Worthy had sent a not so subtle message to the Chiefs Instagram page.

Sometimes a leap of faith is necessary. On Thursday night in Detroit, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy as the 28th overall pick of the draft.

He had ambitions to play for the back-to-back Super Bowl Champions. During the NFL Combine, when he set the 40-yard dash record, he gave the fans a hint.

In a perfect world, I definitely would want to go to the Chiefs. Just the way Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs improvise and use you [like] Tyreek Hill. The way they used him, I feel like that would be a perfect fit for me.

Even All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce was on board with the idea. Even though the Chiefs already have pacey receivers like Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice, adding one more would not hurt them.

However, several mock drafts suggested that he would land with the Buffalo Bills, who had the 28th pick. Sometimes an individual has to take the initiative themselves. The sorting hat listened to Harry Potter and put him in Gryffindor. Yes, that’s fiction, but it can also happen in real life.

Worthy, as his recent social media post suggested that he messaged the Chiefs on Instagram “2 more days,” hinting to draft him on the ultimate day. He had sent a ‘two hands joined to form a heart’ emoji on November 20 as well.

Xavier Worthy thought the Bills would draft him

The Kansas City Chiefs originally had the No. 24 pick. General Manager Brett Veach then spoke with the Bills, traded down to the 28th, and drafted Xavier Worthy.

Later, during the post-draft press conference, the former Longhorn revealed that he would end up in the Meadowlands as the No. 1 receiver for Josh Allen.

I really thought it was the Buffalo Bills.

Instead, now he can live the dream of catching dimes from the two-time NFL MVP.

I mean, Patrick [Mahomes] is itself everybody wanna go play for him. But, I mean, so that’s just like a dream to have a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes improvise and get you the ball, also how much he cares for the players. So, just being over there would be amazing.

This move definitely caught many off guard. An anonymous AFC general manager had a terrified response to the pick, per Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz

Not only will the 21-year-old be a menace for other NFL defenses, but he will also be able to meet Taylor Swift. Billboard reported that the pop icon left like on the post announcing Worthy’s selection.
