The New York Yankees had another day to forget on the field. During the game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday, they made 4 errors in the field which led to them losing 8-4 and dropping another series against their division rivals.
The Yanks have been a bit sloppy in the field in recent times. In the first two games of this series, shortstop Anthony Volpe came under the spotlight for his defensive errors. Apart from him, Oswaldo Peraza also made a throwing error.
In the rubber game on Wednesday, the defense of the Yankees imploded once again. Pitcher Max Fried would first field a chopper from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. down the third base line and make an errant throw towards catcher J.C. Escarra. The catcher would miss the tag on Davis Schneider and lose the ball. This allowed George Springer to score as well.

Cody Bellinger would lose a fly ball in right field. The former Chicago Cubs star would race a few steps ahead of the ball and lose sight of it in the night sky.

1st baseman Ben Rice would also fail to stop a line drive. The player, whose home run in the 9th inning on Tuesday snapped a 5-game losing run for the Yankees against the Blue Jays, was unable to field the ball properly.

Jasson Dominguez and Jazz Chisholm Jr. were then involved in an error. In the 7th inning, Dominguez would fumble a simple line drive into the outfield. Chisholm Jr. would fail to grab the ball cleanly after it reached him on some bounces.

These 4 errors were the 2nd most the Yankees had committed in a game this season. In a slugfest victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at the start of the season, the Bronx Bombers committed 5 errors. As for the series against the Blue Jays, the Yankees have committed 12 errors in 10 games this year.

Internet reacts to sloppy Yankees defense against Blue Jays
The defensive abilities of the New York Yankees are once again in question. The reigning American League champions committed 4 errors on Wednesday night, which led to them giving up several runs and losing 8-4.

Fans on social media were left fuming with this performance from the Yankees. Once again, they would take to their X accounts and slam the team for their showing. One user wrote, “Unserious team,” while expressing their feelings.

Not a fundamentally sound team whatsoever. Just like Joe Kelly said, put the ball in play against them and they will unravel.

The loss on Wednesday means that the Yankees have lost back-to-back series against the Blue Jays now. With a 56-49 record, the New York-based side are now 4 games behind their division rivals in the race for the top spot.
Aaron Boone claims that Yankees are a ‘very good’ defensive club following 8-4 loss against Blue Jays
Aaron Boone and the New York Yankees were once again criticized on Wednesday as the team made several defensive errors in the 8-4 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays. Following the game, Boone backed his team despite the mistakes and expressed that they are a ‘very good‘ defensive unit.

On Wednesday, the 52-year-old admitted that the players need to ‘tighten up‘ a little bit in the defense while speaking with the reporters.
Yeah, just not good enough. I think we have a very good defensive club, but clearly in the seven games we’ve played up here, not giving them extra outs, whether it’s through making an error or not making a play that we need to make, that’s cost us in these two series up here. We’ve got to obviously tighten it up. We’ll continue to work at it. We have good defenders here, but tonight was obviously a rough night.
Aaron Boone told the reporters
“I think we have a very good defensive club.”

The Yankees manager recently blasted the media for their ‘pestering’ questions regarding the performances of his team and backed his players. In the weekly appearance on the Talkin’ Yanks podcast, he would go off at the suggestion of host Jomboy about wanting more non-robotic answers from the team.
The team will now turn its attention towards a 3-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. After that, they will engage in a 4-game series against another one of their division rivals, the Tampa Bay Rays.
