On Wednesday, the New York Yankees held a moment of silence before their game against the Detroit Tigers following the death of activist Charlie Kirk. The 31-year-old was killed after being shot during a speaking event in Utah.

The conservative activist was at Utah Valley University, kicking off his “The American Comeback Tour.” During this, he would hold a “prove me wrong” open table discussion, where he would urge the audience to ask him some questions regarding his opinions.

A large group of students were in attendance for this and would engage with him. In the midst of this, a video clip would capture a bullet piercing Kirk’s neck. As blood gushed out of his body, students at the campus would duck for their safety.

As per reports from the police, Kirk was shot at 12:20 local time. While two people had been detained, they were later released as the investigators found that none of them had any ties with the shooting.

Two hours later, Kirk’s spokesperson would announce his passing. President Donald Trump was one of the first people to confirm his death. Tributes would soon start to flood in social media.
