On Tuesday night, the New York Yankees claimed an 11-4 win in Game 4 over the Los Angeles Dodgers to keep their season alive. 23-year-old shortstop Anthony Volpe played a huge part in this victory.
The New York native launched an iconic grand slam in the third inning against Daniel Hudson. This huge bomb from him kick-started their comeback, as they turned it around to make it a 5-2 game.
This grand slam from Volpe saw the Yankees take a lead in this series for the first time since they led 3-2 in Game 1 of the series before the Freddie Freeman walk-off slam. While the Dodgers made things interesting by making it a 5-4 game, the Yankees had some other ideas.
A solo home run from catcher Austin Wells extended their lead in the sixth inning. In the eighth inning, the Yankee offense jumped on the Dodgers and scored five runs with the help of a three-run home run by Gleyber Torres.

This victory also saw the Yankees avoid a World Series sweep. In their long history, the Yanks have suffered two World Series sweeps and were on pace for a third one if they failed to get a positive result in Game 4.
The Yankees are now the first team since the Cincinnati Reds to force a Game 5 in the World Series after being 3-0 down. The Reds did this in 1970 against the Baltimore Orioles. The O’s though came back strong in Game 5 and won the series 4-1, something the Dodgers would be hoping to replicate on Wednesday night.
Social media reactions to Yankees Game 4 win over Dodgers
Fans on social media have been highly critical of the performances of the New York Yankees. Following their losses in Game 2 and Game 3 of the World Series, the fans would bash the team while labeling their performances as “embarrassment“.
The Yankees’ win in Game 4 has brought out mixed reactions on social media. While the Dodgers fanbase is hoping that their team does not choke, one joked that the Dodgers would now get “reverse swept“.

Roberts decided to not use any of his best arms in the pen after Hudson surrendered the league. He essentially wrote off a World Series game. We’ll see if it works. Cole starts for NY on full rest in game 5.

Yankees ace pitcher Gerrit Cole will take the mound in Game 5. In Game 1, he threw 88 pitches and had a good game. The decision of manager Aaron Boone to take him out stunned several people. The Yankee fans would be hoping for another strong performance from him as they look to take Game 5 and force Game 6.
As for the Dodgers, they will have Jack Flaherty starting for them. In the 5.1 innings he pitched in Game 1, Flaherty gave up two runs through five hits but did collect six strikeouts. He and his team will enter the field in Game 5 with the aim of ending the series and going back home with the title.
