The New York Yankees have suffered another midseason slump this year. Their dip in form has led to many fans urging for the removal of manager Aaron Boone. A Yankees broadcaster would fire back at the fans for this and for insisting the team to rebuild during the trade deadline.

The American League team was sitting comfortably top of their division standings almost midway through June, with a 42-25 record. After that, they lost their edge a bit as they got swept in back-to-back series by the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Angels while embarking on a 6-game losing run.

While the team was able to navigate through that stretch, their engine had slowed down a bit. A few days ago, they got swept in a 4-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays which saw them slip from 1st to 2nd in the AL East standings.

In the following Subway Series against the New York Mets, the Yankees lost the first two games and lost the series. Though, they did win the final game and avoided getting swept, several fans demanded the firing of Aaron Boone.

On Monday, Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay would fire back at the fans for this demand. On his ESPN Radio Show, Kay mentioned that he does not want to hear complaints from fans about the team rebuilding at the trade deadline. He would scoff at them on this topic and claimed that the fans could not even handle losing in the World Series.

And I love, by the way, Yankees fans that say, ‘They should rebuild.’ ‘They should reload.’ Really? You couldn’t take losing in the World Series. You went to the World Series last year, and now you’ve had a bad three-week stretch, and you want the manager and GM fired. And you want to reload? And you’re going to be able to handle that? You can’t handle losing in the World Series.

The Yankees last season made their first World Series trip since 2009. The Los Angeles Dodgers, though, would blow them away 4-1 and break their hearts. Following that loss, there were some calls regarding the firing of Boone and General Manager Brian Cashman.

MLB insider takes aim at Yankees fans who want more ‘fiery’ manager than Aaron Boone

Aaron Boone has found himself under severe criticism from the New York Yankees in recent weeks. With the team on a decline at the moment, many have demanded that he be replaced by a more ‘fiery‘ manager. An MLB insider took aim at the fans for this while discussing this topic.

After getting swept by the Toronto Blue Jays last week, Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr. revealed what Boone told them in the clubhouse. As per the 3rd baseman, his manager told them that they are the “best team” in the league.

This comment of his ignited some fierce reactions among fans. Many of them believe that Boone is not ‘fiery’ enough and does not hold players accountable for their actions on the field.

While speaking on this topic at the Foul Territory Podcast, insider Ken Rosenthal expressed that more ‘fiery’ managers no longer exist in the league.

Those managers don’t really exist anymore. Think about this for a minute, name a manager right now who holds players publicly accountableThe reason they’re like that is because if you rip players publicly, you’ll lose players, and when you lose players, then, as a manager, you are in big trouble.

After losing the World Series against the Dodgers, the Yankees announced that the team exercised the 2025 club option on his contract. In February this year, he would sign a 2-year contract extension through 2027.

Currently, the Yankees occupy the 2nd spot in the AL East and are 3.5 games behind the leaders Blue Jays. Their next assignment sees them take on the Seattle Mariners and the Chicago Cubs in 3-game series at the Yankee Stadium before heading into the All-Star break.
