Houston Astros star right fielder Kyle Tucker is on the market for trade talks as the team remains open to listen to any offers. Tucker is one of the top outfielders in the league and his trade brings lots of possibilities to the table.

The interested teams for Kyle Tucker’s trade include – the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants. Among them, the Yankees seem to be the favorites, as several MLB insiders label him a suitable replacement for Juan Soto.

Insider Brian McTaggart said the Yankees are one of the serious contenders, as the Astros have also been eyeing Luis Gil in the trade for Tucker. The team will most likely add “a couple of impact players” to start boosting their lineup for the 2025 run.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal noted that Tucker will command “at least $400 to $500 million” after Soto raised the bar with his $765 million signing. However, with Winter Meetings closed this week, the NY Yankees are striking out as favorites.

According to an anonymous source, the Yankees have not offered anything the Astros would like in the trade for Tucker. “They think the Yankees have offered crap,” as per the source. The pinstripes have apparently offered prospects who were not listed in their Top 30 MLB pipeline.

There are also rumors of the Yankees seriously pursuing the Astros third baseman Alex Bregman in free agency. According to McTaggart, the Astros have offered Bregman $156 million in a 6-year deal.

However, the Yankees are aggressively pursuing the baseman and he may become one of his favorites in the free agency run. Whether it is Tucker or Bregman, the Astros want MLB-ready players. For the Yankees, they feel Luis Gil will fill in the positions left by the outfielder or baseman in the lineup.

Will Juan Soto’s $765 million signing stir free agency market?

If the New York Yankees ended up securing outfielder Kyle Tucker’s services for 2025, he would play behind captain Aaron Judge. Insider Ken Rosenthal believes Tucker will be a “perfect replacement for Soto” in the Bronx.

If the team ends up losing him, they’ll find it hard to come across other players of his caliber. Recently, the team bolstered their rotation with a 8-year $218 million contract with Max Fried.

Over the past four years, Tucker has cemented himself as one of the best in the MLB, ranking fifth behind Judge, Soto, Gunnar Henderson, and Bobby Witt Jr. He has recorded 112 HRs, 360 RBIs, 80 stolen bases, 145 OPS+, and 21.2 WAR.
