Garbine Muguruza vs Sofia Kenin: Preview

Garbine Muguruza

Talking about the performance in the tournament so far, 6th-seed Muguruza has been ruthless to say the least. The 27 year-old Spaniard, after getting a first round bye, has lost just 5 games enroute to the last-eight stage. The World No.15 blanked Alison Van Uytvanck 6-2, 6-0 in second round before sailing past 11th-seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in the Round of 16.

On the other hand, after receiving a bye in the opening round and getting a walkover in the next round, 2nd-seed Kenin found the going tough in the pre-quarters. The 22-year old American lost the opening set before rallying back to defeat compatriot Jessica Pegula 5-7, 7-5, 6-2.

Garbine Muguruza vs Sofia Kenin: Prediction

Garbine Muguruza

Where Muguruza hasn’t given even an inch to her opponents in her previous matches. Kenin had to dig deep in her Round of 16 encounter. Purely on the basis of form at present, Muguruza is the favourite to create an upset and further give a proof of her preparedness before the all important Australian Open 2021. However, counting out Kenin would be a grave sin and this makes up for a must watch contest.

Match Prediction: Garbine Muguruza defeats Sofia Kenin in a three-set thrilller.
