It’s an All-American battle in the quarter finals of the Yarra Valley Classic on Thursday, as veteran Serena Williams meets Danielle Collins.

Serena Williams dominated Tara Pirinkova in the third round, beating the Bulgarian in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Williams will want to win the title here, especially now that a player who she has struggled in beating, Bianca Andreescu, is not in the tournament as she withdrew. Williams will not take Collins lightly though, as she knows that anything below par in her performance, will be exploited by her fellow American.

Danielle Collins already had an upset win in the third round defeating Karolina Pliskova in straight sets 7-6(5), 7-6(3). Collins showed us that she can fight with some of the toughest players in the world in that match, and that when things are tight and close, she will not be scared to back herself and her shots.

Collins will know she will have an even tougher task at hand now if she wants to cause a similar upset in the quarterfinals as she meets one of the favourites for the title here, Serena Williams.

But Serena has enough experience to not take her opponents lightly. She will once again want to show her power game on court and emerge victorious.
