“You can’t do that, unless you’re Shaquille O’Neal” – Skip Bayless CRITICIZES Giannis Antetokounmpo for missing ‘psyche’ in playoff loss
Skip Bayless calls out Giannis Antetokounmpo after Miami Heat wraps up Milwaukee Bucks' season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Skip Bayless
Skip Bayless is back in the NBA headlines and the reason is one of his takes on Giannis Antetokounmpo. As the Jimmy Butler-led Miami Heat pulled down the curtains on Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks in Game 5. This brought in an opportunity for Skip Bayless to point out the Freak, who he doesn’t believe to be the best player in the world. And, this time he didn’t miss as instead of clowning around he spoke out some facts.
Milwaukee Bucks had a solid chance to extend the series to Game 6 and keep their season alive. But they ended up throwing in the fourth quarter and sold the lead away which eventually resulted in an overtime loss at 126-128. With the loss, Miami Heat won the series at 4-1 and have advanced to the Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks. Grayson Allen ruined the final play and ended the season for his team. But somewhere Giannis Antetokounmpo also gets the blame for the loss and Skip Bayless’ recent take portrays the same.
Skip Bayless calls out Giannis Antetokounmpo’s poor shooting skills as Miami Heat ends Milwaukee Bucks season
Skip Bayless blamed the poor shooting night of Giannis Antetokounmpo for the embarrassing loss. He started off smartly by appreciating the FMVP and soon told Shannon Sharpe to give up on Giannis Antetokounmpo as the best player on the planet at “Undisputed.” Further, he mentioned how it’s necessary for Freak to at least shoot a little bit. And, then Skip went on to bring Shaquille O’Neal into the conversation.
As Bayless quoted: “If you are Shaquille O’Neal and you can just crush the opposition with your sheer physicality and skill…” As he was drawing out his critical narrative Shannon Sharpe hit him with Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Game 5 stats which were like Shaq’s numbers. And, then unlucky Skip had to agree and quote: “It looks pretty good until you see 13 missed free throws. But even then you can’t go 1-of-9 in the fourth quarter because Shaq’s not gonna go 1-of-9.”
Even Shannon Sharpe agreed with Skip’s critical point here. As if Giannis didn’t go 10-for-23 and shot a little better during the final minutes the result would have been different. Skip though gave the 2021 FMVP his flowers for the likeable personality he has.
But as expected he didn’t stop there and went on to add: “And, yet there’s something missing in the psyche that killer will whatever it is…” Further, Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe both disagreed with Giannis Antetokounmpo’s belief of the season not being a failure. And, Skip even claimed it to be an “Epic Failure of All-Time.”
The game though was a complete rollercoaster as the Bucks went on to lose by 2 points after maintaining a 16-point lead. In the game, Giannis Antetokounmpo dropped 38 points, got 20 boards and 4 assists. But he also went 14-27 from the field and had 7 turnovers. Khris Middleton backed him with 33 points. But none of that was enough against Jimmy Butler’s 42-point performance. And, the Heat team was just better and now it’s nothing but regrets for the Bucks.
