The ‘Clark Kent’ lookalike met a young boy who shares the same eye condition as his. USA Gymnastics shared a post via Instagram wherein the 25-year-old Bronze medalist shared “a really, really special moment”. His condition requires him to wear his now-iconic glasses. Meeting him ought to have made the young fan’s day and inspired him.

Stephen Nedoroscik has strabismus (crossed-eyes) and coloboma. The latter is a condition in which a part of the iris, the colored part is missing. It is usually hereditary or caused by trauma to the eye or due to surgery. The pommel horse specialist has not shied away from speaking on this condition. He opened up about it on social media in 2022 when he posted a TikTok seeking the opinion of medical professionals if there was anything that could be done to help him with this condition.

His recent performance at the Paris Olympics has made him a favorite amongst fans. His performance enabled Team USA to end its 16-year medal drought in the Olympics. Nedoroscik along with Paul Juda, Fred Richard, Brody Malone, and Asher Hong brought back pride to the men’s gymnastics program.

It is notable that while the other members of the team took part in multiple events, Stephen Nedoroscik was the only member who qualified for a single event, the pommel horse. Nedoroscik has now become a household name, owing to his look.

He has earned the moniker of ‘goggles guy’ and ‘Clark Kent’ for bearing a resemblance to Superman. However, while he takes part in the event, he has to take off his glasses. He admitted to The Washington Post that when he does his routine in the pommel horse event, he does not rely much on his eyesight.

I don't think I actually use my eyes on pommel horse. It's all feeling. I see with my hands.
