On the second playoff hole, Gillis hit his tee shot into the rough, leading to a shot in the water and ending his bid for his first PGA Tour victory. Spieth’s win was his fourth of the season on the PGA Tour. At age 22, he became the first golfer to win four times before The Open Championship since Tiger Woods achieved the feat in 2000.

His 2013 John Deere Classic victory at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois came at the age of 19. With that victory, he became the youngest PGA Tour winner since 1931. Spieth defeated Zach Johnson and David Hearn in a five-hole playoff to claim his first PGA Tour victory and the $828,000 winner’s prize.
