FC Barcelona fans were left overjoyed following their team’s pre-season friendly win over Manchester City at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The Catalan side fielded a team full of youngsters, who impressed in their first pre-season match.
The win also marked a triumphant start to Barcelona’s new manager Hansi Flick‘s career, after he took over the club’s reigns from Xavi. The Spanish giants defeated the reigning Premier League champions on penalties, after the match finished 2-2 at full-time.
Both teams gave their reserve players a chance to shine, with three of them scoring goals. However, the crowd was disappointed by an 80-minute delay to the kick-off caused by a storm.
Barcelona took an early lead in the 24th minute with a brilliant right-footed goal from youngster Pau Victor. Man City equalized later through Nico O’Reilly, but Pablo Torre restored the Barca’s advantage. Jack Grealish then secured a draw for City with a goal in the 60th minute. In the penalty shootout, Barcelona Atletic keeper Ander Astralaga emerged as the hero, making two crucial saves to secure the Catalan club’s first pre-season win.

Following their pre-season friendly win over Manchester City, Blaugrana fans and football pundits took to social media to praise the Catalan club’s new generation of youngsters. Several Barca Atletic and reserve players received their first opportunity to start for the club.
Some fans praised the club’s new signings and young stars, expecting them to up the heat in La Liga next season and challenge for the title. One fan highlighted youngsters Pau Victor and Pablo Torre, who excelled against City, as key players to support Lamine Yamal.
