Quentin Grimes and Georges Niang

Fans were once talking about something other than another injury update during the Philadelphia 76ers’ season, which has been one long, agonizing slog. Rather, former Sixer Georges Niang provided them with some courtside drama. The 76ers recently played against the Atlanta Hawks and lost. But is Niang who has stolen the headlines for his trash-talking with Sixers’ Quentin Grimes.

During the Hawks’ game versus the 76ers, Niang had a few things to say about Quentin Grimes. Niang interjected with some trash-talk as Grimes was heading to the free-throw line in the third quarter. He told Grimes that if Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid were available to play for the 76ers, things might have been different for him.

If Joel was here, your a** would be in the corner. Joel here, you’re in the corner. Tyrese [Maxey] here, you’re in the corner.

Niang and the Hawks would end up with the last laugh after defeating the exhausted 76ers 132-119 with 20 points (6-9 FG), three rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Despite the defeat, Grimes had a strong game, scoring 26 points (7–18 from three-point range), and dishing out five rebounds, six assists, and one steal.

Niang may be criticizing Grimes for his recent stellar play. Grimes has shot 49.7% from the field, 39.3% from outside the arc, and 77.8% from the free-throw line in the past ten games, averaging 27.8 points, 5.2 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. Nevertheless, Niang did turn the attention towards himself after his latest remarks towards Grimes.

Trae Young dominates the 76ers and makes NBA history in the process

While the Hawks snatched an important win against the 76ers, it was Trae Young who was at the helm of the Hawks’ attack. In addition, Young also made some NBA history in the process. Only two other players in NBA history have had the same statistical run as Young, who combines the skills of a playmaker, long-range shooter, and star scorer.

Per StatMamba, “Trae Young becomes just the 3rd player in NBA history to have a single season recording: 1,500+ PTS, 750+ AST, 150+ 3PM.”

Young played 33 minutes against the Sixers. In 33 minutes of play, he recorded a double-double with 12 assists and 28 points. Young now joins James Harden and Russell Westbrook on the historic NBA leaderboard.

This season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic have dominated the MVP conversations, making no place for Young to enter. That shouldn’t detract from Young’s outstanding campaign, though. Young is averaging 24 points, 11 assists, and 3 rebounds in 65 games. He is making eight three-pointers a game at a rate of 33 percent, showcasing the leader he is in the current Hawks side.

Quentin Grimes showing promising signs despite the 76ers’ poor form

Quentin Grimes was just traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the 76ers, marking yet another of Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison‘s many awful decisions. Grimes has truly elevated his game since being dealt, and his performances with the 76ers have once again shown Harrison to be mistaken. In very little time, Grimes has also won the 76ers fanbase’s hearts with his performances.

Grimes has been a standout player for the 76ers this season, even though they are now a very bad team. The shooting guard will be a free agent this summer, so they might not have him for long. Grimes will receive numerous offers on the open market since several teams will consider his recent performance history and want to add him to their roster.
