Things have gone horribly wrong for Tottenham footballer, Yves Bissouma after he recorded himself inhaling nitrous oxide or what is more popularly known as the laughing gas. Bissouma uploaded clips of himself on Snapchat, inhaling the gas which is now categorized as class C drug and instantly drew media fanfare for all the wrong reasons.

Nitrous oxide was labeled as a class C drug under the Misuse of Drugs act in last November which was a part of the British government’s antisocial behaviour action plan. So as per the law, if someone possesses it and intends to use it wrongfully to just to get the psychoactive effect, he or she will be held culpable under the law.

I want to apologise for these videos. This was a severe lack of judgment. I understand how serious this is and the health risks involved, and I also take my responsibility as a footballer and role model very seriously.

Tottenham Hotspur has also confirmed that an internal investigation has been launched and they will be looking into it. Yves Bissouma joined Tottenham in 2022 and since then have made 56 appearances including 26 starts in the last season. In their last warm-up game of the pre-season, Bissouma played for 45 minutes against Bayern Munich.
