Zach Ertz claims it’s a disservice for Jayden Daniels to be compared with Lamar Jackson after just five NFL games
Despite a top start to his NFL career, Jayden Daniels should not be put in the same box as Lamar Jackson because he still has a long way to go but he's learning quickly according to tight end Zach Ertz.

Zach Ertz wants the media to slow down with the Jayden Daniels-Lamar Jackson comparisons. The Washington Commanders tight end believes it’s unfair for a rookie to be compared in the same bracket with a two-time NFL MVP.
The Commanders surprised everyone when they outscored the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3, but fans were well and truly on the Jayden Daniels bandwagon because he kept winning even afterward. Daniels and the DC franchise beat the Cardinals and the Browns, restricting both teams to under 15 points.
The Commanders currently sit 4-1 after five games, only behind the Vikings with 5-0 in the NFC, and have a great chance of winning the NFC EAST as both the Cowboys and Eagles continue to drop points. Daniels is a massive part of what they have achieved so far, scoring at least 34 points in three of their five games (scored 20 in every single one).
The 23-year-old has combined more than 1,400 yards (passing and rushing) for eight touchdowns with a passer rating of 106.2, which includes one outing with perfect numbers. Naturally, it did not take long for football pundits to draw comparisons between him and Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson before these two played each other in Week 6.
Zach Ertz explains why he believes it’s too early for Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson comparisons
Despite the promising trait, veteran tight end Zach Ertz claimed it’s a disservice to Daniels to be compared with Jackson after just two months of NFL football on his CV.

When reporters asked Daniels about his opinion on the comparisons, he instantly turned them down. The 2024 draft’s second overall pick doesn’t believe he is the second coming of Lamar Jackson.

The Commanders-Ravens game is shaping up to be a classic. However, because of the home advantage of Baltimore, the odds are stacked against the Daniels and co. to secure their fifth win of the season.
