Despite being the No. 2 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, Zach Wilson failed to live up to the expectation with which the New York Jets drafted him. As he enters his fourth season in the league, this would be the first time he won’t be seen in the green and white jersey of the Jets.

In the absence of Aaron Rodgers last season, the Jets put their faith in Wilson to take over. However, they ended up becoming the first team to be eliminated from the playoff race and finished the season at 7-10. This compelled the Jets to put Wilson up for trade, which finally took place last month to the Denver Broncos for a sixth-round pick.

And there begins quarterback Wilson’s second act. He is eying for the starting position at the Broncos but is up against rookie Bo Nix, who has the advantage of being in the good books of head coach Sean Payton. But if there’s one thing that Wilson doesn’t lack is confidence.

I feel like you learn the most when things don’t always go the best. So you bank those reps. You learn from them and three years of things being challenging you can learn a lot of things. Hopefully, I can carry those with me.

The quarterback understands that, whilst starting fresh wouldn’t be easy he is keeping a positive attitude and embracing the challenges as a learning experience.

Zach Wilson determined to overcome Jets’ setbacks

This new chapter of Wilson’s professional life sure brings excitement and gives him a chance to make amends, there comes some time when he can’t help but remember those “bittersweet” memories of his trade.

The quarterback had to face several challenges during his time with the Jets, as he initially struggled to establish himself as a starter then was established by Rodgers and subsequently stepped in for Rodgers after his injury

Obviously, there’s bittersweet moments in everything. I was grateful for my experiences there and the guys. I miss the guys out there and everything, too.

Even though things didn’t end the way Wilson had hoped for with the Jets, the quarterback isn’t holding any grudges against the team. Instead, he’s focusing on a fresh start and how he intends to face the new challenges.
