Things appear to be falling right into place in Zach Wilson’s life. After a dreadful season with the New York Jets, he landed an adequate contract with the Denver Broncos earlier this year. This month, he finally got engaged to the love of his life. Interestingly, so did his ex-girlfriend Abbey Gile. 

Just a week after Wilson’s engagement proposal, his former girlfriend, whom he dated from high school to 2022, was seen flaunting a giant diamond ring after the Washington Commanders wide receiver Dax Milne proposed to her on a beach. Of course! She said yes.

Milne and Wilson were childhood friends; together they went to BYU for college and became roommates. Gile began dating Milne shortly after her breakup with the Broncos quarterback, for which she also became the target of criticism from fans, accusing her of breaking Milne and Wilson’s friendship.

However, she replied with a since-deleted post on her social media, revealing the real reason for her breakup from Wilson. She alleged that the 2021 No. 2 draft pick “was sleeping with his mom’s best friend.” Although the quarterback never confirmed the rumors, his mother had to intervene requesting people to stop bringing in her friend’s name to figure out who Gile was talking about.

Given the controversy surrounding the breakup of Wilson and Gile, the timing of his ex-girlfriend’s engagement to a fellow NFL player seemed a bit odd to fans. As the Broncos newly-signed quarterback popped up the question to his girlfriend, Nicolette Dellanno on a vacation to Italy earlier this month.

Wilson shared an Instagram post with a loving caption for his sweetheart confirming the engagement with a couple of snaps from their special evening. 

To the love of my life, I never truly understood what love was until I met you. You’re not just my partner, but my best friend and my everything. I can’t wait to make a lifetime of memories with you, Nic…I love you.

Just like Gile, Wilson also began dating Dellanno within a few months of his breakup. He made his relationship public around the same time– June 2021 by taking her to a New York Yankees game.
