ODI cricket has been witness to a number of legendary bowlers who have left a profound impact in this format. India’s left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan has been one of them. Khan scalped 282 wickets in 200 matches at an average of 29.44. The left-arm pacer has now revealed his top five bowlers in ODI cricket.

He picked Wasim Akram as the first name on his list given that he was deadly with his conventional swing and also reverse swing. Moreover, he possessed the ability to bowl slower balls and yorkers at the death. Khan picked Glenn McGrath as the next name on his list. The Australian pacer was impeccable with his line and length and gave nothing away to the batters.

Waqar Younis was another bowler whom Khan picked. The Pakistani pacer had the breathtaking yorkers at shearing pace and reverse swing at his disposal. Khan then picked the former Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Chaminda Vaas, who was very accurate with his line and length and had a great career in the subcontinent. He finished off the list with former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn.

Wasim Akram is obviously one of those names which were impactful in this format with his variations, those yorkers, going around the wicket, over the wicket, using the slower one’s. In this format, he’s had a huge impact. Another name which I really looked up to was Glenn McGrath. With the accuracy he had and simplicity in the action and impact with the new ball was something which was very evident throughout his career.

Zaheer Khan said in a recent segment in Cricbuzz.

Steyn was one of the greatest pacers in history. He was known for his outswing at a shearing pace along with his ability to bowl yorkers at the death. He could bowl well with the new as well as the old ball during his prime.

India has included five spinners in their squad and will be dependent on them to give the breakthroughs. The performance of the spinners will definitely decide India’s progress in the Champions Trophy. Out of the five spinners, three are all-rounders.

India is coming to the tournament on the back of a dominant 3-0 win against England at home. The Indian pace attack will comprise the likes of Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and the all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Out of the three proper fast bowlers, two are expected to feature in the playing XI.
