The Baltimore Ravens have the deadliest offense in the NFL, second only to the Cincinnati Bengals. While it is Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry who get flowers for the team’s offensive prowess, Zay Flowers‘ contributions are often overlooked.

The sophomore wide receiver has made an immediate impact on the Ravens offense and in recognition of his contributions, Zay Flowers has been selected for the Pro Bowl. While this feat is impressive by itself, the wideout has scripted history as no other Ravens receiver has been named a Pro Bowler in the team’s 29-year history.

The 22nd overall pick of the 2023 draft has 73 receptions, 1,047 yards, and 4 touchdowns this season. In the past, Baltimore’s wide receivers Jermaine Lewis, Jacoby Jones, and Devin Duvernay have represented the team in the Pro Bowl on five separate occasions, however, they were all selected as returners whereas Zay Flowers has been selected as a wide receiver.

Zay Flowers has the potential to end up as the greatest receiver to play for the Ravens

This is the second consecutive year that Flowers has 1,000+ yards in the regular season. He is the only player in Ravens history to have done this within the first two years of his career. It took him just 21 games to reach 100 career receptions.

Zay Flowers received a lot of flak after his costly fumble in last year’s AFC Championship against the Chiefs. It is good to see that the wideout has used that incident as motivation and played better. The sophomore receiver was taken aback when General Manager Eric DeCosta delivered the good news to him.

He hugged him and reminisced that this was his childhood dream. “From since I was a little kid, that was a dream. We gotta get that ring now.” he said in an emotional tone. He has a long and fruitful career ahead of him, and when he decides to hang his cleats up, Flowers is likely to go down as the greatest receiver in Ravens team history.

This year, Baltimore is a star-studded team. They lead the NFL with a total of nine selections to the Pro Bowl, and are better than they were last season and that is scary for their opponents in the playoffs. The ultimate goal for the Ravens remains to go the distance this time and win the Super Bowl.
