Zenit vs Chelsea: Zenit squared off against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium in Matchday 6 of the ongoing edition of the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea registered a 3-3 draw against Zenit. Chelsea got the scoring underway after an early goal from Timo Werner. Andreas Christensen flicked on the ball for Werner who finished right on the goal line. However, Zenit kept the pressure on and made a brilliant comeback in the first half. Claudinho got the equalizer after a header from Douglas’s cross. From there Azmoun put them into the lead after he rounded Kepa Arrizabalaga to finish off. Chelsea responded in the second half with Romelu Lukaku’s simple tap-in. The European champions left it late but finally got into the lead through Timo Werner who maintained his cool and finished off a sharp move by the visitors. But Zenit was not done yet as Ozdoyev fired in a cracking volley in added time to bring them back on level terms

Kepa Arrizabalaga (6/10)- The Chelsea shot-stopper was called into action multiple times and made some good saves in the first half itself. However, there was not much he could do with the three goals which were all quality.

Andrea’s Christensen (7/10)- The defender got the all-important assist for the first goal for Timo Werner. A lovely flick at the near post which went right onto the path of Timo Werner.

Malang Sarr (5.5/10)- Not the best performance from the Portuguese international. The defender left wide-open spaces in the defense which was exploited by the Zenit forwards.

Cesar Azpilicueta (5.5/10)- A disappointing evening from the veteran Chelsea defender today. His passing was very poor and defensively as well he could not position very well.

Reece James (7/10)- The English international put in another dominant performance tonight. He was used in the midfield and was making some good tackles. His pressing was good too.

Saul Niguez (6/10)- Saul Niguez put in an important block after Azmoun was trying to feed in Malcolm on goal. However, his block resulted in a corner kick.

Ross Barkley (7/10)- Ross Barkley made some good surging runs into the Zenit half and even had a shot in the initial minutes. Moreover, he delivered the corner kick for Timo Werner’s first goal.

Callum Hudson Odoi(6/10)- Callum Hudson-Odoi received the first yellow card. He made a rash challenge on Douglas with a late slide.

Mason Mount (6/10)- A rare poor performance from Mason Mount tonight. He couldn’t get involved in the play and looked off while in possession.

Timo Werner (9/10)- Finally the German international has broken his deadlock and got his name on the scoresheet. He scored from almost on the goal line after the corner kick from Ross Barkley. Moreover, he got the assist for Romelu Lukaku’s goal. But Werner saved the best for the last as he got the third goal in the 85th minute.

Romelu Lukaku ( 7.5/10)- Romelu Lukaku missed an easy opportunity in the first half to put Timo Werner through on goal. His pass was cut out by the Zenit defender. However, he made amends as he scored the equalizer.

Hakim Ziyech (6/10)- Hakim Ziyech came on in place of Ross Barkley for Chelsea. He played a lovely one-two with Christian Pulisic which resulted in the goal by Werner.

Christian Pulisic (7.5/10)- Pulisic attacked the ball after the cross from Reece James. However before he could connect, the Zenit goalkeeper collected the ball. He got the assist for Timo Werner’s goal.

Kai Havertz (6/10)- the German international made his way into the field to replace Romelu Lukaku. He contributed well to the attacking play after coming on.

Mikhail Kerzhakov (5/10) – The Russian Goalkeeper was decent in the entire game but was not able to keep out the Chelsea forwards as a result of which he conceded three goals in the match.

Vyacheslav Karavayev (5/10) – The Russian left-back was not up to the mark and could have been better to provide the much needed defensive support by Zenit at the back and was also responsible to concede the vital goal in the match which turned the table in Chelsea’s favor for a few minutes in the match.

Dejan Lovren (5.5/10) – The Croatian defender and captain of the Russian club was the anchor of the defense and helped Zenit on several occasions at the back but was caught off guard once by Romelu Lukaku which resulted in the second goal of the match.

Yaroslav Rakitskyi (5/10) – Yaroslav Rakitskyi was decent in the game but was caught out of position several times in the match. The Ukrainian defender failed to keep up with the pace of Chelsea forwards and was subbed off at the 66th minute.

Douglas Santos (7.5/10) – Douglas Santos’ mistake to mark Timo Werner in the first few minutes of the game resulted in the first goal of the match. The Brazilian picked himself up and played much better as he also assisted Claudinho to score the equalizer in the match and also provided some clinical passes in the final few minutes of the game.

Wílmar Barrios (5.5/10) – The Brazilian midfielder had a decent game as he came up with some good passes in the match and also fell back at times to help the defense. Although Barrios could have been much more composed when Zenit needed him the most to win the match.

 Malcolm (6/10) – Malcolm was very quick and on point with his gameplay as he showcased some beautiful skillset in the match. The Brazilian had some on-point passes and also provided a beautiful assist to Azmoun to score the second goal of the match for Zenit.

Daler Kuzyayev (5/10) – The Russian midfielder was decent and provided some beautiful support to the Zenit Forward line in the first half of the game but not much of him was seen in the second half of the game.

Wendel (5/10) – Wendel was playing well as he created some troubles for Chelsea in the first half. The Brazilian attacking mid was subbed off early after he suffered an injury while chasing the ball.

Claudinho (7/10) – The Brazilian was excellent and showcased some class throughout the match providing some key and vital passes in the match. He also came up with the first goal of the match which was the equalizer and vital for Zenit in the first half and maintained his cool to deliver the final 3-3 draw to Zenit.

Sardar Azmoun (8/10) – The Iranian forward was exceptional in the game and provided the vital lead for the Russian club in the first half of the game. Azmoun was subbed off in the second of after he sustained an ankle injury.

Substitute

Andrei Mostovoy (6/10) – The Russian forward came in place of Wendel in the early minutes of the second half and was blazing through the left flank creating problems for the Chelsea defenders. Mostovoy played a vital role in Zenit’s third equal which equalized the scoreline at the 94th minute.

Magomed Ozdoyev (6/10) – The Russian midfielder stole the match from Chelsea’s mouth right at the dying minute of the game by scoring a screamer from outside the box to equalize the score 3-3 at the 94th minute.
