Chinese World No.29 Zhang Shuai became emotional and sobbed uncontrollably during the press conference at the French Open. Post the burst out, she could not speak anything more as well. It was evident that the Chinese player is under a lot of pressure due to the ‘mistreatments’ by the Chinese Tennis Federation. She was beaten in the first round of the French Open by Polish World No.29 Magdalena Frech: 1-6, 1-6.

It’s been three years now that Shuai has not come back to China. The two times Grand Slam champion in doubles is currently aged 34 and a comeback to her usual form and fitness will be a tough ask considering the mental trauma the Chinese professional had to endure during her career.
