With the current soup that Manchester United has found themselves in with a couple of nasty defeats from the first three games of the ongoing Premier League, the fans have made their opinions clear about the want of a new coach. It has been a while since the Red Devils have been in hot pursuit of the former French legend, Zinedine Zidane. Much to United’s woes, Zidane has opened up in an interview, underlining why his chances of arriving at Old Trafford are highly unlikely.

Ever since Zinedine Zidane left the role of a manager in 2021 when he last donned the gaffer’s hat for Real Madrid, he has declined several high-profile offers. From Bayern Munich to several other national teams, Zidane has made it very clear that he will only be taking over the role of a manager when he deems an opportunity to be right enough.

When asked in an interview whether he would take up the role of the coach at Manchester United, he cited semantic barrier as a major reason why he may not be seen in United or Premier League per se.

Would I want to go to Manchester [United]? I understand English, but I'm not completely fluent in it. I know that there are coaches who go to clubs without speaking the language, but I work in a different way.
Zinedine Zidane told L’Equipe

Zizou’s journey as a preceptor began when he took over the reins of Real Madrid’s reserve team, Castilla in 2014. A couple of years later, he was promoted as the manager of the senior team, taking over the mantle from Rafa Benitez in a very turbulent phase of play.

Zidane had an instant impact, propelling Los Blancos to a UEFA Champions League triumph in that very season. His success blew through the stratosphere with two more Champions League titles in 2017 and 2018, making him the first manager to clinch the Holy Grail of Europe thrice in a row for the first time in the glistening antiquity of the tournament.

It has been a bumpy start to the 2024-25 Premier League for Manchester United

Manchester United has been in a pretty shaky phase since the last season itself. An injury-marred edition saw the Red Devils finish in a modest eighth spot with 60 points.

With only 18 wins from 38 games, United could barely find their foothold, making the fans question the credibility of Erik ten Hag. Players like Antony and Jadon Sancho’s presence in the side backfired even further for ETH.

The start to the latest season of the Premier League has been a rocky one as well for Manchester United. With one win from three games and two defeats that saw them biting the dust against Brentford and Liverpool, once again Erik ten Hag has come under the scanner. They are slated to play against Southampton this Saturday, hoping to return to winning ways.
