Zion Williamson’s masterclass makes Pelicans emerge victorious against Luka Doncic less Mavericks

With Luka Doncic not on the floor for Dallas mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans’ marquee Zion Williamson accepted the opportunity to take the centre stage with both hands. Williamson dropped 38 points for the home team as the beat the Mavericks with a late surge. Alexander-Walker was also impressive for the Pelicans with his 20 points. Zion Williamson recorded his 23td straight game over 20 points after this win.
The Mavericks played without forward Luka Doncic, who sat out with an illness and center Kristaps Porzingis, who was resting on the second half of back-to-back games. The away team were led by Tim Hardaway Jr., who scored 21 of his 30 points in the first half. Jalen Brunson, starting for Doncic, added 24 points.
Zion Williamson leads New Orleans Pelicans against Dallas Mavericks
Dallas trailed 44-30 early in the second quarter but ran off 17 consecutive points, 11 by Hardaway in a 4:45 span, to take a 47-44 lead. Hardaway paced all scorers with 21 first-half points on 8-of-12 shooting, and the Mavs’ 33-18 edge in the second quarter led to a 53-53 tie at the half.
During the Mavs’ second-quarter spurt, New Orleans missed nine consecutive shots until Williamson, on the bench during most of the Dallas run, ended the drought with a layup. Williamson led the Pelicans with 15 first-half points on 6-of-10 shooting.
Eric Bledsoe’s 3-pointer capped a 9-3 run for New Orleans as the Pelicans regained the lead, 70-68. Williamson 10 points in the quarter and the Pelicans took an 80-78 lead into the fourth.
The Pelicans built an 87-79 lead, but Dallas continually penetrated off the dribbled for a 14-4 run to take a 93-91 lead, setting up New Orleans’ final surge.
