Reilly Opelka and Zizou Bergs engaged in a war of words on social media after the Belgian knocked out Alex Michelsen 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 in the first round of the Paris Masters. Bergs celebrated the win by moonwalking.
When Tennis TV shared the clip of the celebration on Instagram, it caught Opelka’s attention. Opelka dropped a sarcastic message in the comment session, but Bergs also gave it back.
I’d rather lose 6-2 in the third than win 6-2 in the third and moonwalk.

Bergs, in response, took a jibe at him for playing the qualifying rounds. World No.52 Opelka did not get a direct entry into the Paris Masters and played the tournament as a lucky loser.
@reilyopelka I rather play than not play in Q’s.
Zizou Bergs responded
Bergs likes to make TikTok videos, and seeing his comment, Opelka called him, “my fav tik TikToker of the game“. Since Bergs is the World No. No.41, he did not have to play the qualifying rounds.

Opelka, after securing a spot in the main draw, suffered a three-set defeat at the hands of Corentin Moutet. The 28-year-old is a finalist at the Masters 1000 level, reaching the stage at the 2021 Canadian Open (lost to Daniil Medvedev). Apart from the Canadian Open, Opelka also reached the semifinals of the 2021 Italian Open.
But Bergs has never made the last four at a Masters 1000 level. This season, for the first time in his career, he played a 1000 Masters quarterfinal at the Shanghai Masters, where the tournament’s most successful player, Novak Djokovic, knocked him out in straight sets.
Nick Kyrgios mocks Zizou Bergs after his Instagram exchange with Reilly Opelka
Nick Kyrgios joined the conversation when he came across the exchange between Zizou Bergs and Reilly Opelka. The American reached a career-best No.17 ranking on the back of four titles and Grand Slam performances.

But he suffered a wrist injury and took two long breaks before returning to the ATP Tour in July 2024. And this year, he reached the final of the Brisbane International, en route to which, he knocked out Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.
Weak a** reply Opelka has made finals of master events – before wrist surgery was going deep pretty much all the time real ones know.

Kyrgios, a former World No.3, is dealing with fitness problems, due to which he is on the sidelines. He turned to the tour at the Brisbane International after two years and clinched his first match win at the Miami Open.
Zizou Bergs will play Jannik Sinner next
Bergs’ next match is going to be nothing but a tough one as he will be meeting none other than the formidable Jannik Sinner. Ahead of the tournament, Bergs had expressed his wish to face the World No.2.

When you see the draw and you can play Sinner in round two, you obviously really want to go to round two. To have another tryout moment to see what the level is like right now and where I have to go. The past weeks have been quite amazing.
Zizou Bergs told ATPTour.com
Bergs will be meeting Sinner for the first time. For the Italian, it will be his first match in the tournament.
The path for everyone is different. I’m 26 this year, and I feel like I’m only just getting on Tour. It’s just amazing to see because two, three years ago, all those guys were already there, and I was still in Challengers. So to play them now a few times [in the] past month is something very valuable for me, but also for the people around me.
Zizou Bergs added
Sinner has never won the Paris Masters. He’s chasing his fifth title of the season.
