Colby Covington‘s UFC comeback had a lot of promise initially. Unfortunately, ‘Chaos’ wasn’t up to the mark and ended up losing the fight in the main event of UFC Tampa. However, the American fighter did manage to do his best to show off his relationship with the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Colby Covington donned a custom-made chain of Donald Trump‘s head as he made his way to enter the arena. In a recent YouTube video from the fighter from inside the locker room, Covington’s idol and cornerman, Chael Sonnen, held the chain. Sonnen talked about it in detail and shared how special the chain was.
If you look closely, the eyes are diamonds. They got a patch over the ear. It’s a one-of-one. You are not gonna be able to find this anywhere…this thing is about two pounds…they spared no expense.

Covington’s admiration towards Donald Trump is well-known among the MMA community. He had a busy year as a part of Trump’s 2024 election campaign. The former interim champion also joined Elon Musk at the Thanksgiving party at Trump’s Mar-a-lago. Everything has been perfect for the fighter except his fight against Joaquin Buckley.
To everyone’s surprise, Covington was overwhelmed by Buckley’s immense pressure and unable to do anything. He got a nasty cut on his right eye which turned the fight bloody. In the third round, the referee stopped the fight and the ringside doctor announced that he couldn’t continue the fight. As things stand, the future looks bleak for the MAGA UFC fighter.
UFC CEO reacts to Colby Covington’s loss at UFC Tampa
Colby Covington came into the fight with a loss against Leon Edwards and was in desperate need of a victory. Going into the fight, the former title contender showed a different side to him and didn’t engage in much trash-talking. Similarly, his performance was different as well and it was reflected in the result.
UFC CEO Dana White was rather surprised by the doctor stoppage and mentioned that it was rather premature. White has done business with Covington for a long time now and knows the fighter closely. After the fight, he gave his opinion about Covington’s loss.
Listen, Colby’s an older guy that fights every once in a while. He’s always durable and he’s always tough, like I just said. Did you hear the body shots he was getting hit with tonight? And the head shots he took?… Colby’s tough, but I also feel like Colby wasn’t too pissed that fight got stopped by the cut. The cut was definitely bothering him.

Covington was eager to get a victory and land himself an opportunity to fight for the title. However, it seems like welterweight champion Belal Muhammad‘s prediction about the fighter has turned out to be true. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see what’s next for Covington.
