What happened to Ricky Pearsall?
On August 31, Saturday, Ricky Pearsall was in the San Francisco Union Square for a charity event when the suspect shot him after the WR refused to hand over his Rolex Watch. Eyewitnesses heard 2 gunshots and saw Pearsall bleeding from just below the right side of his chest.
When the San Francisco police arrived at the spot, they found the suspect was also bleeding. They sent both men to the SF General Hospital, where Pearsall stayed throughout the weekend.
On Monday, Ricky’s mother, Erin Pearsall, announced that the hospital discharged her son, but he will remain under constant surveillance at their house.
49ers place Pearsall on IR
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch met Pearsall when he was in the hospital, and after the rookie receiver’s discharge, he spoke with the media on Tuesday. Lynch claimed Pearsall’s situation is no short of a miracle in his eyes.
It was nothing short of miraculous; he came out of this as good as he did. On behalf of Ricky and his family, I talked with Ricky [Pearsall] this morning; he just wants to express and the team wants to express our gratitude to a variety of people, number one, the San Francisco Police Department. They were incredible in their response; they were incredible at the hospital.John Lynch said per CBS News.

Lynch further revealed they had added 23-year-old Pearsall to the injured reserve list until he recovers completely. However, he did not mention any timeline, so Pearsall will most definitely miss the first five games and perhaps have to sit out his entire rookie year.
The 49ers drafted Ricky Pearsall 31st overall in the 2024 draft. Pearsall was a standout player at the Arizona State Sun Devils for 3 years before moving to the Florida Gators in 2020. In the final season in South Beach, Pearsall racked up 65 catches for 965 yards and 4 touchdowns.
When the Niners declared they had picked Pearsall, it surprised many, but none more so than Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud. He faced Pearsall while playing for Ohio State and wanted the Texans to draft him.
