Michael Beasley is all of 36 years old. He was once touted as a generational prospect, which led the Miami Heat to select him No. 2 overall back in 2008. Since then, he has had a disappointing career for someone who was expected to become of the franchise’s most important players.

He had the length, the ball skills, and the IQ needed to succeed. His college accolades were enough for the Heat to believe he was going to be exceptional. However, it was not to be as the Kansas State star could not have the impact many hoped he would.

His on-court performance as well as his marijuana related arrests cast a shadow on a player who many felt was one of the best ball players in the league. He was shipped to the Minnesota Timberwolves, with whom he spent the remainder of his rookie contract.

Once he left Minneapolis, he signed a 3-year $18 million deal with the Phoenix Suns. One year later, he agreed to a buyout and returned to the Heat. A couple of years on minimum deals and by 2015, he had earned around $26 million. However, he had $0 in his bank account.

When I found out my family was stealing from me, and they weren’t stealing from me like, intentionally stealing from me, they were just spending more money. And my CPA stole all my money, like all of my money.

A then-26-year-old Michael Beasley, did not have any money in his account. He blames his family and his CPA for essentially wiping out whatever he had made. The former Miami Heat star believes their actions led to his struggles with finances.

Michael Beasley was once sleeping in a car

Michael Beasley earned over $33 million during his time in the NBA. The bulk of that came during the first 6 years of his career. After that, he spent time on a bunch of teams, and even had to play in China. Despite all that, he was not able to keep his finances in check.

He detailed while speaking with Chris Haynes that his CPA and baby mothers were after his money, and he was forced to sleep in a car. Beasley had to go through this from 2021-2023, when he had to face the courts over those problems.

The car I was sleeping in, it was under my baby mother’s name. My phone is on my baby mother’s name. I was going through court at the time, and she cut my phone off, because she was upset. And I missed court.

I went from crying for help to trying myself. Like everybody that’s on my line now and everybody want to like…I don’t want, I don’t like you. Like my stomach was growling and tomorrow came. I was hungry by myself, and tomorrow came.
