Michael never really played more than two seasons for a same team continuously as no team trusted him for a multi-year contract. But his prime which seems wasted was with Minnesota Timberwolves as injuries and organizational issues forcing changes got him ruined and traded soon after. The Miami Heat first traded him to Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for 2011 and 2014 second-round draft picks in order to clear salary cap space for Miami, to sign free agents LeBron James and Chris Bosh, as well as re-sign franchise player Dwyane Wade.

Beasley in his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves played some of the best basketball of his professional career in the league. As his third season in the league which was his first with the Minnesota Timberwolves ended up being his best statistical season of his career. Recently in a interview Beasley revealed a back story for that season and a part of conversation he had with the coach Kurt Rambis.

Michael Beasley answering the question of his best statistical season at Minnesota Timberwolves gave all the credits to his head coach Kurt Rambis as he quoted: “I had a coach that talked to me, Kurt Rambis. Even to this day, he still checks in on me. I think that’s been the difference for me since college. Frank (Martin) used to talk to me, ask what I thought of the game, and challenge me to do more. The first thing Rambis said to me when I got traded to Minnesota was when we were walking into training camp, and he said, “Who are the best two franchises in the last two decades?” I said, “The Bulls and the Lakers” at the time. He said, “What offense do they run?” I said, “The Triangle.” He said, “Who scored the most points?” I said, “The three.” He looked at me and said, “You’re going to be my three.” He put the responsibility in my hand. He trusted me to score the ball. I got injured a lot that season and tried to play through it and things like that. I was mad they fired Rambis. I thought that was a great building year. I thought that team with that system could’ve done a lot more before they cut it short. I had a coach that wasn’t scared of my opinion.”

Revealing their strategies where they used the triangle offense and how him being at three helped him in scoring he had nothing but flowers for the Kurt Rambis. As Kurt Rambis so far has been the only coach who trusted him and in return Michael paid it off. That particular season under Kurt, Beasley averaged 19.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks per game so far the best season stat-line he has ever had. Further he added how the chemistry between him and the coach worked and how they fought to coming down to a mutual agreement and keep winning with trust playing a important role. Michael also believes it’s a franchise mistake to fire him since it was a building year according to his perspective and things would have been great in future.

After two years with the Wolves, Michael signed with the Phoenix Suns but got waived off as he was arrested on suspicion of Marijuana possession and since then his journey has been southwards. But now the star looks ready to hop back in the league as he feels better than ever and is confident on his game. We may again find him with the Wolves as they need a veteran who can come off the bench and make a difference which is something the 33 years old veteran can help the team with.
