The 2023 NFL regular season has come to a conclusive end. With this, teams across the league’s final rankings for the season have dropped as well.

Some teams have gone on to make the playoffs while the rest have been knocked out from playoff contention. For the teams that have been knocked out, the next step will be to look at what went wrong this season and work on that in the coming season.

Teams will now shift their focus to the NFL Draft. The 2024 NFL Draft will take place between the 25th of April to the 27th of April. The draft order is determined by the reverse order of finish which means teams that finished the worst record will get the top pick whereas the Super Bowl champions will get the last pick. The slots from 1 through 20 are reserved for the teams that failed to make it to the postseason.

This season, the Carolina Panthers have had the worst record in the NFL as the team won 2 games and lost 15. They are followed by the Arizona Cardinals who have gone 4-13, the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots who have also gone 4-13, and the Los Angeles Chargers who have gone 5-12. Despite this, the Panthers will not have the top pick this season.

2024 NFL Draft order by team

Here is the detailed draft order for the 2024 NFL Draft:

  1. Chicago Bears (2-15)
  2. Washington Commanders (4-13)
  3. New England Patriots (4-13)
  4. Arizona Cardinals (4-13)
  5. Los Angeles Chargers
  6. New York Giants (6-11)
  7. Tennessee Titans (6-11)
  8. Atlanta Falcons (7-10)
  9. Chicago Bears (7-10)
  10. New York Jets (7-10)
  11. Minnesota Vikings (7-10)

  15. Indianapolis Colts (9-8)

  17. Jacksonville Jaguars (9-8)
  18. Cincinnati Bengals (9-8)

The question might be why the Bears have the first pick despite the Panthers being the worst team in the NFL. Well, the answer is simple. The team has the first pick because of a trade they made with Carolina last season which resulted in them getting the top pick. The Bears could go for a new QB or build that offensive lineup depending on what the organization is looking for ahead.

For teams looking for new QBs, this draft is one where they have a plethora of options to choose from.

Here is the projected draft pick order for the rest of the teams in the NFL for numbers 19 through 32 via FPI:

  • Green Bay Packers (9-8)
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-8)
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7)
  • Arizona Cardinals (10-7) via a trade with the Houston Texans
  • Los Angeles Rams (10-7)

The 22nd and 26th picks will however be fixed because teams have acquired the same as a result of trades with other teams. The Draft is a crucial moment for teams as it will help them rebuild and become better in the subsequent seasons.
