Jannik Sinner climbed to the mountaintop of tennis this season after winning titles from the beginning to the end of 2024. It was his best year so far in his career and one in which he finished as the World No. 1. He won eight titles, including two Grand Slams and three Masters 1000 crowns.
The only stain in Sinner’s 2024 season was the doping saga that has been out of his control since its announcement in August. The Italian was looking set to face no punishment for testing positive for clostebol until WADA appealed the case in September. The appeal will be decided in January 2025, a case that might determine the Italian’s season.
Apart from that, there’s no doubt that Sinner was the undisputed King of the ATP in 2024. Even his closest rival, Carlos Alcaraz, couldn’t match his impressive records on the court. Here are three stats that illustrate his dominance this season.
Jannik Sinner first to win two Slams, Masters, ATP Finals and Davis Cup
Sinner became the first man to win two Grand Slams, Masters 1000 crowns, ATP Finals, and the Davis Cup in the same year. The 23-year-old helped Italy retain the Davis Cup after his teammate Matteo Berrettini laid the foundation for the victory. Before arriving in Malaga for the competition, he defeated Taylor Fritz to win the ATP Finals.
Nonetheless, John McEnroe was the one player close to achieving this record. In 1984, he won two Slams and ATP Finals, but Team USA finished second place at the Davis Cup that year.

Boris Becker could have also made the record in 1989, having won the Wimbledon, US Open, and the Davis Cup, but failed to win a Masters title.
Sinner won a set in every match of 2024
This, surely, is Jannik Sinner’s most impressive statistic of the year. The Italian won 73 tour-level matches and lost only six. Three of the six defeats were against his arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz, but the good thing about his losses was that he was never beaten in straight sets.
Every player, even some of the greatest, has days where they don’t feel great on the court for whatever reason, and they end up losing in straight sets. However, in Sinner’s case this year, he always found a way to win at least a set. In most of the losses, he always bounced back in the second set after a first-set loss, which is a great attitude on the court.
Jannik Sinner won eight titles (and the Davis Cup)
Sinner won his first title of the season after being two sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev at the Australian Open final. He followed it up with a victory at the Rotterdam Open, and then, with another triumph at the Miami Open. His flow was cut short by injury during the clay season, but he bounced back in time to win the Halle Open.

During the hard court swing, he proved his ultimate dominance, winning the Cincinnati Open and US Open within three weeks. Then he won the Shanghai Masters and the ATP Finals in Turin. The World No. 1 ended the year by winning the Davis Cup for Italy in Malaga.
