For years, WWE has held the Hall of Fame ceremony to honor those who made a significant impact in the wrestling industry. Legends like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and The Undertaker have been inducted, cementing their place in WWE’s history. However, starting this year, WWE is also recognizing some of the greatest matches that created Hall of Fame-worthy moments.

The first match to be inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame is the iconic WrestleMania 13 showdown between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret Hart. WWE shared a video clip of the match on social media, featuring legendary wrestlers discussing why it deserves Hall of Fame recognition. Adding to the excitement, both Austin and Hart will be present for the induction.

Let’s discuss three WWE matches that must go into Hall of Fame:

Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes: WrestleMania XL

This match was iconic from start to finish and is already regarded as one of the greatest WrestleMania matches ever. After failing to finish his story against the same opponent at WrestleMania 39, Cody Rhodes won his second consecutive Royal Rumble. He challenged Roman Reigns once again at WrestleMania XL.

However, losing to Reigns and The Final Boss a day before in a tag team match didn’t help him. This match had now become the infamous Bloodline Rules match, where anything was allowed. The match was filled with drama, emotion, and most importantly, long-term storytelling. Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso taking each other down the ramp, and John Cena returning and giving Solo Sikoa the Attitude Adjustment took the wrestling world by shock.

As if that wasn’t enough, The Rock and Cena standing face-to-face for the first time in over a decade sent fans in complete disbelief. The surprises continued as The Undertaker returned and chokeslammed ‘The Final Boss’, taking away his advantage. Rhodes finally finished his story by defeating The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania and becoming the new WWE World Champion.

The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels: WrestleMania 25

The WWE Universe instantly ranked this match among the greatest of all time. The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, both considered legends, proved exactly why. HBK became the first to pin Vladimir Kozlov, earning a chance to end The Deadman’s legendary 16-0 streak at WrestleMania 25. An interesting fact was that before this match, Taker had never defeated Michaels in a singles action.

Although there are many great moments to talk about this match, one that still resides in fans’ minds is ‘The Phenom’s’ infamous suicide dive. As HBK dodged the attack and pulled the cameraman ahead of him, Taker had a terrible landing. The cameraman completely missed him, and it looked like a career-ending injury but thankfully, he was fine.

The electrified crowd cheered every kickout, wanting the match to never end. In the final moments, Michaels climbed the top rope for another moonsault. However, The Undertaker caught him mid-air and sealed the victory with a second and final Tombstone Piledriver.

Dudley Boyz vs. The Hardy Boyz vs Edge & Christian: WrestleMania 17

This match redefined tag team wrestling. The Triple Threat TLC match between The Dudley Boyz, The Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian was one of the most brutal in WWE history. Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley entered as champions, locked in a legendary three-way rivalry with Jeff & Matt Hardy and Edge & Christian.

This match was filled with iconic moments, from Bubba and Matt crashing through tables to The Rated R Superstar spearing a dangling Jeff in mid-air. Every superstar gave their all to entertain the fans. In the end, Edge and Christian won the match, becoming the new WWF Tag Team Champions.
