Shaquille O'Neal taking up voluntary job on son's college basketball team

After retiring from his NBA career, Shaquille O’Neal has delved deeper into broadcasting as well as business. He has used both to continue building his brand and now commands a net worth that many of his era could only dream of.

The Big Aristotle is currently worth approximately $500 million. His investments in Google, Papa Johns, Krispy Kreme Donuts and most notably the Ring camera, have helped him reach that point. Despite all that wealth, he keeps looking out for businesses he can invest in.

On the broadcasting side, his tenure with Inside the NBA on TNT has brought entertaining basketball analysis. He has used his work on the show to net him a $15 million a year contract. That money is good enough that he does not need another job. But that did not stop him from taking on another assignment.

Shaquille O’Neal has agreed to become the men’s basketball general manager of Sacramento State, sources tell ESPN. It will be a voluntary role for Shaq, whose son, Shaqir O’Neal, also plays for Sac State under Mike Bibby. Shaq and Bibby form a star duo as college GM and coach.

As per the ESPN Insider’s sources, O’Neal is working for free. His son Shaqir O’Neal plays for former NBA star Mike Bibby, hence the four-time champion might not have hesitated to take on this assignment. He will be now scheduling time to help Sacramento State get the players necessary to take the next step in college basketball.

Shaquille O’Neal disposes off both Cybertrucks

With all that wealth at his disposal, Shaquille O’Neal has not shied away from splurging on luxury cars. He has had a penchant for it since his playing days, and is well known for customizing them before taking delivery.

He owns a custom $500K Rolls Royce Cullinan, which stands out as his most expensive purchase. But along with them, he also splurged on two Tesla Cybertrucks. But now, when speaking with comedian Karlous Miller on his podcast, he revealed how he changed his mind.

I was into Cybertrucks but they don’t give enough charge mileage. Then I just got one of those IQs system Escalades. Today I was in Vegas, I ain’t have to charge up for four days. My Cybertruck here, if I go downtown to work tonight and come back, I’m gonna be struggling to get back.

Shaquille O’Neal said

The 7′ 1″ big man had customized both his Cybertrucks with wide body kits. However, he is constantly travelling and needs a truck that has a good range. The Cybertrucks give around 510 km per charge. But he needs more, hence he sold both of them and purchased a Cadillac Escalade IQ.

O’Neal treats his cars like his girlfriends

Shaquille O’Neal disposed off his Cybertrucks well before former All-Star Gilbert Arenas‘ son Alijah Arenas crashed into a tree. Unlike other NBA stars, the big man likes to treat his rides well. On another episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, he said.

I treat them like girlfriends, my police car girlfriend I haven’t seen in a while so I will probably take her on a date tonight. But I am leaving tomorrow for another week so I will probably take my favorite girlfriend out tonight.

Shaquille O’Neal said

He was referring to the police car that he has in his lineup. O’Neal has owned the car for a while and by his words, loves it the most. He has the money to keep changing his cars but has held on to this 2000 Los Angeles police patrol car which he bought after leading the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA title.
