Klay Thompson and Barack Obama

The former President Barack Obama is an avid fan of the NBA. From watching matches via virtual stands in the previous NBA bubble to praising players, Obama has done it all. In a recent conversation with Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry, Obama sympathizes with the former’s teammate Klay Thompson who could be out for yet another season. Thompson was recovering from an ACL tear but seems like he will still require time.

Klay Thompson as well as Stephen Curry did not play for the Warriors in the previous season. Which led to the Warriors’ collapsing significantly in the regular season, ending last in the Western Conference. But in the 2020-21 season, the Dubs were expected to be one of the title contenders. However, Steve Kerr did a good job anticipating Klay’s prolonged absence. So, he brought in players like Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kent Bazemore to keep the wing position in check.

“Give Klay my love and respect” Barack Obama

In an Instagram live session with Stephen Curry, Obama said, “Listen, I can’t wait for the season. Give Klay my love and respect. I can only imagine what he’s going through. But Good luck!”

The former President had also attended the 2019 Game 2 of the NBA Finals, four games prior to Klay’s injury. After this season, Klay will have three-years remaining in his contract with the Warriors. Just like all Warriors fans, Obama is rooting for Thompson’s speedy recovery.

It is only up to time to tell whether or not Klay Thompson would to return for the 2020-21 season at all or not. But the question still remains, Will the young players be able to play the vital supporting role alongside Stephen Curry to get Warriors into the playoffs?
