Mohamed Salah will want to end his year on a high as he has 32 G/A and is leading the charts in the Premier League

Liverpool travel to St. James Park to take on Newcastle United in what will be the two clubs last fixtures for 2020. Newcastle United are winless in their last three matches while Liverpool come to this match after a frustrating draw with West Bromwich Albion. Thiago Alcantara trained with the team on Sunday and could possibly feature against the Magpies on Thursday.

Preview

This is both of the club’s last fixtures of 2020 and both will want to finish on a high. Liverpool won their first Premier League title after 30 years on this year and currently sit top of the table after the Everton-Manchester City match was called off. Manchester City had a virus outbreak in their squad and the match was postponed to a different date.

Jurgen Klopp reported that Thiago Alcantara trained with the team but it was a reduced session and hence is doubtful to start against Newcastle United. The latter could however feature against Southampton and make a concrete start against Manchester United on 17th January.

Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United haven’t won in their last three fixtures and will be aiming to end this year on a high. The Magpies currently sit at 14th place with 18 points and will want to improve on that tally.

Injuries

Newcastle United: Martin Dubravka, Jonjo Shelvey, Ryan Fraser, Callum Wilson (doubtful), Jamal Lascelles (COVID-19), Allan Saint-Maximin (COVID-19)

Liverpool: Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Naby Keita, Diogo Jota, Kostas Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara (doubtful)

Predicted Line-ups and score

Newcastle United: Darlow; Manquillo; Fernandez; Schar; Clark; Lewis; Ritchie; Longstaff; Hayden; Joelinton; Almiron

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold; R Williams; Fabinho; Roberston; Jones; Henderson; Wijnaldum; Salah; Firmino; Mane

Liverpool will look to win this match as they will want to get over the frustrating draw to West Bromwich Albion. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were kept quiet throughout the match and will want to get back to their free scoring ways. Liverpool will also want to get over their not-so-good away form and will want to build on their 7-0 demolition of Crystal Palace.

We predict a 3-1 win for Liverpool against the Magpies at St. James Park.
