Amid Ballon d’Or chatter, England and Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane shared his interest in joining the NFL. Kane wants to try out as a kicker in the future.

Even though he’s 33, Kane is still at the peak of his powers. Over the past 12 months, he has scored a staggering 73 goals for club and country, making him one of the frontrunners for Europe’s best soccer player award.

Kane believes he still has “five or six years” left in him before calling his time on soccer. He could try out coaching or switch to broadcasting. There’s also the option of transitioning to a different sport like Golf.

But Kane views kicking in the NFL as a more viable option than rubbing shoulders with Bryson DeChambeau. He said in an interview at St George’s Park:

The NFL is a lot more realistic than the golf one, let’s put it that way.

Kane regularly takes penalties for both England and the German champions. So, he’s used to the pressure. He finds kicking in football similar to taking penalties—both come with added pressure. Kane continued:

I know with all elite sports, when you watch it on TV, people make it look easy; you think it is possible, but that is not always the case. If I was to do it, it is something I would take seriously. I would take maybe six months to a year of trying to practice before.

Kane can take inspiration from Brandon Aubrey. The former Notre Dame alum played for MLS side Toronto FC before switching to kicking. He played a couple of years for the USFL (UFL) side Birmingham Stallions.

In 2023, the Dallas Cowboys signed Aubrey. Within three years, he became one of the best field goal specialists in the US. In April 2026, he signed a record-breaking four-year, $28 million contract.

Gordon, 25, a compatriot of Harry Kane, is also teammates with Lamine Yamal at Barcelona, another candidate for the prestigious award. Gordon praised Yamal for winning the World Cup with Spain and believes he has a great shot at winning the trophy at just 19 years old.  

But Gordon also noted that the world can’t overlook Harry Kane’s 2025-26 season numbers. He said:

If we were talking off last season, H [Kane] has got as big of an argument as anybody because his season was historic. The amount of goals he scored, the things he’s done for us within the World Cup, they both have large arguments. So, I wish them both the best of luck.

Kane spent time in the academies of Arsenal, Watford and Tottenham before debuting for the Spurs in 2009. He played a handful of games for Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City while on loan from the London club. For the Spurs, Kane scored 213 goals in 317 games (all competitions). In August 2023, Kane became the most expensive signing in Bundesliga history after agreeing to a deal exceeding €100 million. Kane has scored 152 goals (in all competitions) for the Bavarians.
