“Isn’t that prestigious to me,” Denny Hamlin ridicules iconic NASCAR Cup race trophy

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin is one of the most outspoken characters in the Cup garage in the Cup garage. He has never been reluctant to raise unpopular opinions regarding sports matters. The No:11 driver has more reason to voice such opinions since he is a podcast host. Hamlin is the host of the Dirty Mo Media podcast ”Action Detrimental”

The 49 times Cup race winner has always been active on Twitter and has never shied away from expressing his thoughts via the social media platform. He recently shared another hot take on one of the most iconic trophies of the series and had some controversial opinions on the Martinsville clock given to the race winners.

Hamlin came across a photo of the upcoming All-Star race trophy shared by Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass. He is not a fan of the moonshine theme trophy, and he took the opportunity to give his take on other trophies. He pointed out that while many trophies got a uniqueness, some are not pieces of art or as one-of-a-kind as they claim to be.

“Now for my kill shot. Martinsville clock isn’t that prestigious to me. Why? You can buy one from the store right down the road. Only 2 of my clocks actually have any writing on them saying signifying they were “won”. It’s just a clock that families of means owned about 40 years ago,” Hamlin added.

My unpopular opinion is that nascar should start adding cups to the rear bumpers of cars to signify how many that teams won during the season. Kinda like an old fighter plane vibes. As for a trophy if I was organizing a race I'd do an art piece done by a local artist to the track

I like this better than the grandfather clock. I've always felt that trophies should stand out enough that they can be immediately recognizable if they show up behind someone in a video interview. Dover trophy goes to the top of the list for that.
