Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem, world number two and three respectively have landed in Australia to compete at the Australian Open 2021 which begins from February 8. The duo will quarantine in an exclusive Adelaide Bubble reserved for the top three male and female ranked players, along with Serena Williams. They are scheduled to play an exhibition event in Adelaide on 29th December.

All players arriving in Australia, will be sent into a two-week hard quarantine where they are allowed out of their respective rooms for only upto five hours a day, for training purposes. During the first week of quarantine, one player can train with just one partner, and can form a group of four players during the second week.

Novak Djokovic has reigned supreme at the Australian Open for a record eight times. He has won the title in 2019, 2020 and will look to complete his hattrick of Australian Open titles in 2021. In 2019, the Serbian thrashed his fiercest rival, Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the final. In 2020, he had to grind out a five-set victory against Dominic Thiem in the finals. Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem will look forward to avenge their respective losses and claim the Australian Open title.

Both, Thiem and Nadal have arrived in Australia without their respective coaches. Carlos Moya, Nadal’s coach has missed the Australian Open owing to travel restrictions, whereas the Austrian’s coach, Nicolas Massu has tested positive for covid-19.
