‘I feel like it’s going to be a close contest’ – Dan Hooker weighs in on Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier!

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier at UFC 257, has got the whole world pumped. ‘The Notorious’ makes his return to the octagon, one year after demolishing Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246, in just 40 seconds. A win will put him in pole position for the title shot.
However, there is another high-voltage lightweight bout, in the same card. Dan Hooker takes on UFC debutant and Bellator legend Michael Chandler. ‘The Hangman’ Hooker seems confident that he will get the W, and break into the top 5 of the lightweight rankings.
Speaking in an interview with THE MAC LIFE, Dan Hooker was asked to give his prediction for the Conor vs Dustin fight, as to how the fight will pan out. The New Zealander revealed that the fight would be very close and would go the full five rounds.
‘At 55, Dustin is one of the bigger guys at 55‘ – Dan Hooker
Dan Hooker was quoted as saying, “I feel like it’s going to be a close contest. I feel like it’s going to go the full five….. It’s honestly up in the air. I do not believe it is going to go down like the first. At 55, Dustin is one of the bigger guys at 55. He doesn’t look the biggest or the most imposing but he’s a thick boy and he’s heavy, you know? He’s one of the most durable, one of the fittest guys in the division. So they match up well you know”
Hooker continued, “We all know Conor has the lulls in energy throughout, Dustin does not. Dustin just constantly builds throughout the fight…. I don’t feel like he is going to get him out of there, but if he doesn’t hurt him badly early on and drains some of Dustin’s gas tank away, I think it’s going to be difficult for him in the later rounds.”
What are your thoughts on this? Dustin is coming off a energy-draining war win against Dan Hooker himself. Can he see off the ‘face of the fight game’?
