Sunday night is about to be a double whammy for the New York Jets. Not only Taylor Swift will be in attendance, but the sidelined Aaron Rodgers is reportedly looking forward to watching the game at MetLife Stadium when they face the Kansas City Chiefs.

Rodgers is currently rehabbing in his home in California, two weeks removed from the season-ending Achilles injury. The veteran quarterback had to undergo surgery on his left leg. He will travel to New York, as the doctors gave him the green light to fly to the Big Apple, as per ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

The 39-year-old hinted as such when he once again appeared on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show. “You never know who you’re going to see at the game,” Rodgers told host Pat McAfee. Not only that, he is exploring several options to speed up the recovery process. “I’d like to be able to walk, so whenever I can, then I’ll probably be back in Jersey.”

To further put a smile on the faces of the Jets faithful, the New York Post shared a photo of Aaron Rodgers walking on crutches. The NFL MVP was wearing a compression sleeve on his lower left leg as he left a four-hour workout in Los Angeles.

Aaron Rodgers is keeping in touch with his New York Jets teammates

There was renewed optimism in the New York Jets locker room when they signed Aaron Rodgers in the offseason. But his untimely injury threw that spark out of the window. Since then, they have lost both games and sit 1-2 in the 2023 season.

Third-year quarterback Zach Wilson, whom the franchise wanted to learn from the Super Bowl winner, was pushed into the fire. His 52.4% passer rating is one of the worst in the NFL this year, and by his trajectory, there’s no sign of improvement. But Rodgers has faith in the 24-year-old, stating that he has the tools in his shed to turn things around.

During the training camp earlier this year, the 10-time Pro Bowler took Wilson under his wing. So he knows what the BYU graduate is capable of. Rodgers has been keeping tabs on him as well as other team members.

“The guys have been great at keeping in touch with me,” he said on the Pat McAfee show. “I miss the guys; it’s hard to be away from them.”

Unfortunately, he won’t be in the dugout anytime soon with his leg bandaged up. But if he does end up showing up at the game, his Jets teammates will undeniably receive a boost to their confidence.
