The first semifinal of the 2024 Australian Open, between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner, saw an abrupt interruption due to a medical emergency.
During the third set of the all-important game, when the set was evenly poised with both players having won five games each, the play was stopped for a while.
As per the journalists present at the Rod Laver Arena, the play was halted over a medical emergency. Reportedly, a spectator screamed for help as they fainted. The relevant authorities then rushed to the spot to rescue this patient, and hence the play had to be halted.

Novak Djokovic pushed to the brink in 2024 Australian Open semifinal
Talking about the match, it was a tough and forgettable outing for ten-time champion Novak Djokovic. The 36-year-old was pushed to the brink by Jannik Sinner as Djokovic lost the first two sets one-sided. The 24-time Grand Slam champion looked clueless on occasions as Sinner dictated terms.

Although Djokovic made a comeback in the third set, it was a tough task for the Serbian to break Sinner who looked determined to win the match. The two players fought a neck-to-neck battle in the third set and it was pushed to a tiebreaker.
In the tiebreaker too, Djokovic and Sinner won points alternately. The Serbian, however, managed to win two back-to-back points to close the set in his favor. Djokovic won the tiebreaker 8-6 and managed to stay afloat in the match.
