Oliver Bearman had an excellent weekend last time around in Saudi Arabia, as he scored a well-earned seventh place ahead of Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes. Due to the latter’s super-sub performance, rumors have been looming around the paddock regarding the Bearman’s chances at Ferrari after Hamilton decides to leave the team. However, the Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur, has dismissed such rumours ahead of the former seven-time world champion’s arrival.

Oliver Bearman replaced an injured Carlos Sainz at the Saudi Arabian GP. Consequently, it was anticipated that the young rookie might not even make it to the fringes of the points considering his inexperience. However, the 18-year-old proved the predictions wrong and managed a brilliant outing.

In reaction to the speculation surrounding Bearman and Hamilton, Fred Vasseur broke his silence and stated:

Don’t start to speak about after Lewis Hamilton, Lewis is still not in the team!
Fred Vasseur said in an interview PlanetF1

Vasseur emphasized that the speculations being made are about way into the future. Moreover, Hamilton has still not arrived at the Italian outfit so the rumours are baseless. Despite the Frenchman’s claims, Ferrari seems to be in a bit of trouble as Bearman is a promising talent and currently, they have two seats which are filled by one of the best drivers on the grid.

Subsequently, a recreation of the Alpine-Oscar Piastri situation could be in the making at Maranello. However, only time will tell how this partnership at the Scuderia plays out.

Oliver Bearman felt destroyed after the race in Saudi Arabia

The rookie was the epicentre of attention last weekend at the Saudi Arabian GP. After the race was over, the Brit garnered praise from several other drivers for his exemplary performance.

However, the teenager admitted that he was exhausted and physically destroyed after the challenging 50-lap race.

Destroyed. Physically it was a really difficult race! Especially in the end, when I had the two guys on soft behind me, I had to basically push flat out and it was a mentally difficult race as expected, and physically I was struggling too, but great fun out there.
Oliver Bearman told F1

Although Bearman was happy about his seventh-place finish under the Arabian night, he was struggling towards the end of the Grand Prix due to the high G-forces a driver experiences in an F1 car. Subsequently, it was also seen that Bearman’s headrest had received some thrashing.

Apart from this, the 18-year-old would be happy with what he achieved and would be aiming to ace the F2 category this year. Moreover, Bearman is considered as the title favourite alongside other young talents.
