Novak Djokovic has reached his first Olympic final and wants to do everything to win the gold. Although he is set to face Carlos Alcaraz, the 21-year-old Spaniard, who is the heavy favorite, he did not miss the chance to pull off an antic ahead of the blockbuster clash.
Those who watched Djokovic’s fourth-round Wimbledon match against Denmark’s Holger Rune last month can very well remember the controversy that erupted due to the crowd’s chants of Rune’s name. Djokovic thought it was aimed at him to mock him and so he gave it back to them by criticizing them after the match.
Djokovic also mimicked the crowd’s way of chanting Rune’s name by bidding them a “gooooooood night” following the winner’s speech and continued his protests against their ‘disrespectful’ behavior by sharing a post on his social media with another “Goooooooooooood night.”
That’s how he ended the night after his 6-4, 6-2 semifinal win over Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti. A video surfaced on social media where the Serb could be seen looking at a camera and repeating the same “goooood night” before breaking into a smile.

Novak Djokovic’s dream comes true as he reaches Olympic final for the first time
Novak Djokovic lost all his semifinal matches in his previous three Olympics and the bronze is the only Olympic medal he has won so far. At the Tokyo Olympics, the 37-year-old was beaten in the semifinal by Alexander Zverev before getting knocked out of the quadrennial event by Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta in the bronze medal match.

Now that he finally won the semifinal, an exuberant Djokovic wants to fulfill his dream of winning the gold medal for Serbia.
I have been waiting for this for almost 20 years. I’ve played four Olympic Games, this is my fifth and I’ve never passed the semi-finals. I lost three semi-finals in my first four Olympic Games. I managed to overcome this big hurdle. I must be honest and say that I was thinking about all the semi-finals that I lost.Novak Djokovic said in his on-court interview
But the path to gold is not easy for the 24-time Grand Slam champion. After winning three Grand Slam titles last season, Djokovic is trophyless in 2024. And although a silver medal is confirmed, Carlos Alcaraz, who won the French Open and Wimbledon this season, is expected to emerge victorious.
