Daniil Medvedev just wrapped up an intense ATP season, alongside an additional Paris Olympics event in August. The Russian has often revealed that he loves video games the same way he cherishes his career. Recently, Lacoste and the National Sports Agency of France gifted him a cemented court decorated with motifs related to video games.

The last time Medvedev was on the court was at the 2024 ATP Finals where he failed to reach the semifinals phase of the event. However, he is back on the French Riviera, a place he often spends several weeks to refresh before every tournament. Despite being Russian, he speaks French perfectly and was honored with an incredible gift in Grasse, France.

Medvedev’s apparel and footwear sponsor, Lacoste, and French NSA teamed up to unveil a cement court that is named “Daniil Medvedev.” It was decorated with a blend of bright blue and forest green about video games as well as Medvedev’s signature logo. Video game nods include Player 1 and Player 2 on the baselines.

The gift is said to be of significant timing as the French Rivera looks to build a great relationship with Medvedev. For Lacoste, it is a relationship that began in 2019 when the Russians first signed a contract with the apparel and footwear brand. An extension between Lacoste and Medvedev was agreed upon in 2020, just a few days after his Paris Masters victory. The contract is set to run through to 2025.

This season, Medvedev failed to win any title though as he finished the year as World No.5. He reached two finals and ended with a record of 46-21 this season. He will hope that the gift from Lacoste will be enough to revive his game ahead of the 2025 season.

Daniil Medvedev looking forward to an intense preseason ahead of 2025

Daniil Medvedev’s 2024 season was full of ups and downs. The 28-year-old began the year brightly as he reached two finals in three months. However, he failed to win any of the titles, as he lost to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively. He then struggled after that period and failed to make a full impact on the court.

He is now looking forward to getting his game back on track next season. The Russian revealed during an interview with a Russian outlet, that he doesn’t have any idea which part of his game he needs to improve. But, he is looking forward to an intense presence with his coach, Gilles Cervara.

Now we will try to have an intense preseason together, we’ll see what happens. I don’t want to go into detail, but I have an idea of how to improve my game with the current balls being used. It’s not a certainty that it will work, but I need to find a way to beat Jannik Sinner again.

In the 2024 season, Cervara traveled less with Medvedev after the duo agreed on their partnership in January. Next season, perhaps, the French coach will be looking to be closer to his pupils as they seek to win titles again.
