‘There were some question marks ahead of Wimbledon, but I am at peace now’: Roger Federer

Roger Federer
World No. 8 Roger Federer has been experiencing a rough time on the ATP tour from the time he got his knees operated. The Swiss maestro has been in and out of the circuit in the recent-past, owing to which his ranking has dropped and more importantly, a slump in form is visible too.
While the 39-year-old did make a decent attempt at the 2021 French Open before withdrawing ahead of the fourth round clash against Matteo Berrettini, he was dumped in the very first round at ATP Halle by Felix Auger-Aliassime a few weeks ago.
As the eight-time Wimbledon champion entered the Championships, many experts doubted whether Federer would make it to the second week based on this recent fitness and form. However, the 20-time Grand Slam has somehow managed to scrap through the first week by beating Adrian Mannarino, Richard Gasquet and Cameron Norrie in the first three rounds.

While Federer is still not at his supreme best, he spoke about how he has managed to attain peace despite the early stutter at the start of the grass season. The Swiss player also told the media on how he feels more settled mentally ahead of the second week at Wimbledon.
“There were a lot of question marks going into Wimbledon this year, especially after that third set vs Auger-Aliassime in Halle. I tried everything I could to have a positive mindset and now I feel a lot of peace, very calm.”
Federer to play Sonego on Manic Monday

The number seventh seed will take on Italian sensation Lorenzo Sonego in the fourth round at Wimbledon later in the day. “Look, I love this tournament, and I love playing here. I can’t wait for tomorrow for my match against Sonego,” the eight-time winner at Wimbledon opined as he was doing the rounds at the All England Club.
