On Sunday, history was created at WrestleMania 41. In the main event of WrestleMania Sunday, John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. Following his win, the Major League Baseball (MLB) honored him in a hilarious way.

Last year at the Money In The Bank Premium Live Event (PLE), Cena shocked the world by announcing his retirement from the WWE in 2025. This meant that this year was the farewell tour for him.

After losing the Royal Rumble match in January, Cena announced that he would be competing in the Elimination Chamber match. With a little help from Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins, he pinned one of his former rival, CM Punk to win the match and punch his ticket for the main event of WrestleMania 41.

It was after the match that hell froze over. After Rhodes declined the offer to “sell his soul” to The Rock, Cena shocked the WWE Universe by attacking Rhodes and turned heel for the first time in over 2 decades.

Following some war of words on WWE Raw and SmackDown over the weeks, Cena and Rhodes squared off on Sunday. During the ending moments, Cena went low on Rhodes again and hit him with the championship belt to the face and covered him to win a record-breaking 17th championship.

The MLB account on X quickly congratulated John Cena on this huge win. They would post a picture of a floating Dodgers cap, jersey, pants, and shoes, taking to the mound to throw a pitch. This was a nod to the running “You Can’t See Me” tagline joke. The original picture is of Cena throwing the first ceremonial pitch in 2009.

His time is now! Congrats to John Cena on his record-breaking 17th WWE World Championship #WrestleMania

Ric Flair congratulates John Cena on winning 17th championship in WWE

When John Cena announced his farewell tour last season, many wondered whether he would break the tie with Ric Flair and win the 17th Championship. On Sunday, he did just that at WrestleMania 41. Following his win, “The Nature Boy” congratulated Cena.

While taking to his X account, the WWE Hall of Famer shared an image of him and Cena from the 2017 Royal Rumble when Cena defeated AJ Styles to win No.16. In the post, he would call the match between Cena and Cody Rhodes a “classic”.

Congrats To My Great Friend @JohnCena On Becoming A 17x Champion! It Was Only A Matter Of Time! You And @CodyRhodes Put On An Instant Classic! Much Respect! WOOOOO!

Flair and Cena were tied at 16 for the most championship wins. The latter now holds the record for the most world championship wins in WWE and stands alone at the top.

John Cena refused to answer ‘clickbait questions’ during press conference after victory at WrestleMania

As John Cena walked out of WrestleMania 41 as the Undisputed WWE Champion, several fans headed to the press conference to hear the thoughts of the Cenation Leader. During the conference, the now 17-time World Champion refused to answer any questions and labeled them as ‘clickbait’.

After every WWE event, wrestlers are required to take part in the press conference and speak with the media. In the aftermath of his shocking heel turn at Elimination Chamber, Cena walked into the press conference, took out a mic and literally dropped it, and walked out without saying a word.

This time, John Cena at least sat down and took some questions. However, he labeled all of them as ‘clickbait questions’ and called it ‘lazy work’ and refused to answer them. He would later urge the reporters to ‘step up’ their game and vowed to ruin wrestling and tune in to Monday Night Raw to see what he does.

I’m beginning to sense a pattern here, that you guys are looking for headlines so I’ll give you one. Tune into Monday Night Raw to see how I ruin wrestling. And keep in mind, you are now talking to the last real champion. Step your game up next time.

John Cena said during the WrestleMania 41 press conference

It now remains to be seen what Cena has to actually say on Monday Night. It will also be interesting to see how Cody Rhodes reacts to this low and whether he confronts the “Last Real Champion” of WWE.
