John Cena appeared on this week’s SmackDown to send a message to Randy Orton. Although he engaged in a heated war of words with The Viper, Cena ultimately failed to get the last laugh. Frustrated, he stumbled into WWE legend R-Truth, who was waiting for the perfect opportunity to congratulate the Cenation Leader.
In a hilarious segment, Truth told John Cena that he was extremely proud of him and wanted to offer his best wishes. The Suntan Superman said he grew up watching Cena and was thrilled to see his “childhood hero” become a 17-time World Champion at WrestleMania. Expressing his love and admiration, the former United States Champion assured Cena that he would always be there whenever he needed assistance.

However, The Cenation Leader was visibly upset and, without saying a word, gave R-Truth the cold shoulder before walking away. The 53-year-old was left standing there in shock, clearly surprised by how much Cena has changed over the past few months. It remains to be seen if Cena and Truth will cross paths again during The Cenation Leader’s farewell tour on WWE TV.
Moreover, things did not go as the ‘Real’ World Champion had planned when he arrived on SmackDown. Randy Orton was well-prepared for Cena’s offense and responded with some bold counter-attacks of his own. The Viper even hit The Franchise Player with an RKO for the second time in the same week, making a strong statement on SmackDown.
Randy Orton vowed to protect wrestling from John Cena
Randy Orton and John Cena engaged in a fiery exchange on this week’s SmackDown. The Viper emerged from the shadows to remind Cena of the importance of the fans to WWE. However, Cena fired back, declaring that after chasing the fans’ approval for 25 years, he’s done—and now, he plans to take everything away from them by destroying what they love most: professional wrestling.

The Apex Predator vowed to protect the world of wrestling from The Franchise Player if this was truly Cena’s new mission. Orton declared that wrestling had given everything to him and his family over the years, and now it was his turn to give back by becoming the soldier who defends it and the WWE Universe. If Cena intends to destroy wrestling, Orton warned, he’ll have to go through The Legend Killer first.

It was a bold exchange, with the Hollywood star firmly believing that he will walk out of WWE as the Undisputed Champion. Cena stated that after December, he would take the WWE Title with him, leaving Orton permanently stuck at 14 world title reigns. In response, The Viper made it clear that his mission is to stop Cena and take the title off him before that happens.
WWE set to build John Cena vs. Randy Orton at Backlash as ‘One Last Time’
John Cena has officially challenged Randy Orton to a match for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Backlash next month in St. Louis. WWE later confirmed the bout, marking it as the latest chapter in the legendary Cena vs. Orton rivalry. However, this time, the company is promoting it with a special tagline—signaling the final dance between the two iconic superstars.

According to WrestleVotes, WWE plans to promote Cena vs. Orton at Backlash with the tagline “One Last Time.” While many anticipated Orton would be Cena’s final opponent, WWE appears to be taking a different route—positioning this match as potentially the final encounter between the two legendary rivals.

It’s a blockbuster match, and fans are deeply invested in seeing two legends collide in St. Louis. The Apex Predator has vowed to end The Franchise Player’s title reign once and for all, while Cena is determined to prove that his actions are justified—and that Orton is just another fool blindly following the WWE Universe.
