Stone Cold Steve Austin made a surprise return at WrestleMania 41 to announce the event’s official attendance. However, his appearance quickly turned into a memorable moment for an unexpected reason — the WWE legend lost control of his ATV and accidentally crashed into the barricade, startling a nearby fan. Now, The Texas Rattlesnake has finally broken his silence and addressed the incident.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Austin explained that the incident was due to a throttle issue. The Hall of Famer emphasized that he’s usually skilled with dirt bikes, but the different system on the ATV that night caused the mishap. The WWE Hall of Famer called it an embarrassing moment, admitting it was a “bad day at work.”

Different throttle set up than what I’m used to. Long story short, just a different throttle system. I’m pretty dang handy on a four-wheeler.

Austin acknowledged that he made a blunder on one of the biggest nights in wrestling history. After the accident, Nick Khan personally checked on the fan to make sure she was alright. WWE’s backstage staff was on high alert following the mishap. However, The Texas Rattlesnake played it cool on screen, brushing off the situation by humorously attributing his reaction to being flabbergasted by the massive crowd.

Moreover, after his promo, Austin personally went back to check on the fan to ensure she was okay. As of now, there have been no legal actions taken against WWE, suggesting that the situation has likely been resolved quietly behind the scenes. However, the controversial accident involving the Hall of Famer did attract a lot of attention on social media, sparking discussions across platforms.

Stone Cold Steve Austin gave his thoughts on WWE pulling the curtain back

WWE seems to be going all out in pulling back the curtain on its stories and programming. While this behind-the-scenes approach has intrigued some, many fans feel it breaks kayfabe and undermines the core essence of sports entertainment. Recently, WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin weighed in on this new direction and shared his thoughts on the shift.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Austin shared that he’s not a fan of WWE pulling back the curtain on its storytelling. He admitted to being a bit old school and prefers when the magic of the business is preserved. The Texas Rattlesnake explained that even though fans know it’s not real, he still believes they should be allowed to live in the illusion and wonder how things are happening, rather than being shown.

That’s where I’m still a little bit…I’m a little old school on that, and you know it’s like I’m a big magic fan, if Harry Houdini’s still around I don’t want him to tell me how he does it, I want to figure out how he does it, and if I can’t then I’m gonna keep wondering.

The former WWE Champion also expressed his thoughts on the increasingly commercial direction of the business, calling it a controversial shift. He acknowledged that many fans feel the constant advertisements during matches make the product feel cluttered and affect the viewing experience. Still, WWE seems focused on maximizing promotion, as nearly every aspect of the show now carries some form of advertising.
