The 2025 NASCAR Cup season so far has been a tale of mixed results for Bubba Wallace. He hasn’t been able to produce a race where he was close to getting a win, but has been the best racer when it comes to stage wins. But the last race at Texas Motor Speedway wasn’t the same for Wallace as he got himself caught in a wreck early in the race.
On lap 172 of the race Bubba Wallace was driving on the outside lane, with Joey Logano just behind him. He lost some focus, made contact with the wall, slowed down, made contact with the No:22 Fords front bumper and spun out, causing a bug wreck. He later too responsibility for the incident, but that left Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. unimpressed as he deemed it as a just a racing incident.
I know Bubba took blame for it. Bubba bounced off the outside wall and come across the nose of the 22 [Logano]. They were tight, though. I didn’t really think Bubba had to take responsibility. I think it was just a racing deal.

Further talking on his podcast, Junior admitted that when he saw the incident played out, he thought the 23XI Racing driver was going go scotch earth on Logano, feeling he got used him up. If it was the old Bubba Wallace, what the HOF driver said would have happened, but he has shown a lot of maturity over the last two seasons.
I watched that, and I thought, ‘Man, I bet Bubba’s pissed.’ I thought Joey kind of [used him up]. Logano was not hitting him but at his left rear… I was like, ‘Oh, man, I would be pissed if I was Bubba.’ But he got out and he’s like, ‘My fault, man.’
Dale Earnhardt added.
Bubba Wallace spotter brands Texas result was underserving
In the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Bubba Wallace’s spotter and friend Freddie Kraft talked about the incident and have his take on it. He admitted that it was an unfortunate ending to their day at Texas and the unlucky incidents so far has been the story of their season, as almost all of their good runs ends in a disappointing finish.

We just got tight off [Turn] 2 and we just clipped the wall and the #22 was on our bumper and turned us down into the rest of the crowd. Unfortunate ending, another… it’s kind of been our story of the season. We either get good runs or we have good speed and we don’t get the finishes we deserve.
Freddie Kraft said.
The comment from Kraft shows the whole 23XI Racing team is disappointed with the poor luck of their drivers as they are missing on big points day as well as a ending the two-year winless streak owing such incidents. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the remaining races of the season.
