Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch is nearing the final years of his Hall of Famer worthy career. The two times champion is 40 years old and is the driver with the most active Cup years in his resume on the current garage, though he is younger than Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin. The 63 times Cup race winner has recently explained his pre-retirement goals.

In the recent episode of Denny Hamlin’s Actions Detrimental podcast, Kyle Busch revealed that he wishes to run half a decade more in stock car racing which will help him to retire the same time his son get a NASCAR ride. He also wants to win at least seven more races to have a perfect end, which will put him as the 9th winningest driver ever, a spot he is already at. He has to win 14 more races to overtake Dale Earnhardt as the 8th all time winner.

If I got four more years, let’s just say, 44, if I got four more left… I’d like to run five more because that would put me in the bracket of age for then Brexton, and then what all happens…If I can get above 70 (wins), for me that would be perfect.

Is a fourth championship alongside the wins a goal for Kyle Busch? Well not necessarily. There is an issue with the Next-Gen car according to veteran as the drivers are now more aggressive and events are more chaotic. So, he believes a multi-win season with four wins and a last-8 entry is great for him and anything better he sees it as the icing on the cake.

With the world we live in with this NextGen car and racing and everyone wrecking on final restarts and all this BS, if you can have a three or four race-win season and make it to the Championship 8, that is a good season. The icing gets put on the cake when you make it to the Final 4 and then you (blow out) the candle if you’re the champion.

Kyle Busch added.

The primary goal of the veteran isn’t just winning at the top level. He wants to end his career by racing alongside his son and cherish every moment of it. The veteran is a good dad who wants his son to have more opportunities in racing than he or his brother Kurt Busch had, to expand their family racing legacy.

Kyle Busch could have ended his career as Denny Hamlin’s driver

One of the biggest changes of Kyle Busch’s two-decade long NASCAR career came in 2022, when he was let go from Joe Gibbs Racing and signed with RCR to race for them from 2023 season. But things could have been much different if he chose another path.

In a recent appearance on Bert Kreischer’s cooking show alongside his wife, Busch revealed that he had talks with Michael Jordan to sign with his team. The team is co-owned by Denny Hamlin, the longest serving teammate of Busch when they were at JGR. But the talk didn’t pan out as expected.

You remember when Joe Gibbs fired me? I had to talk to Michael Jordan about hiring me. It was a work call…I wasn’t fanboying on him or anything, but Samantha fangirls on him all the time.

Kyle Busch said via Bert Kreischer’s cooking show.

If he had signed with the team, the No:45 Car would have gone to him and Kyle Busch replacing Kurt Busch would have been something special. Buit he is now with RCR, driving the iconic No:8 car, with ending his career on a high note as a main goal.
