WWE Announces a Steel Cage Match for Drew McIntyre at Saturday Night’s Main Event Against Arch-Rival to End Rivalry
In what is believed to be the final chapter of their months-long rivalry, Drew McIntyre will lock horns with Damian Priest inside a Steel Cage next weekend.

It was announced during this week’s SmackDown that Drew McIntyre would take on Damian Priest in a Steel Cage match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The challenge was laid down by the ex-Judgment Day member in a pre-recorded video package. Since they’ve sabotaged each other for months, Priest now wants to put an end to their rivalry.
The Street King affirmed that a normal match wouldn’t have sufficed as a justifiable closing of chapters. Hence, the former World Heavyweight Champion is willing to take the gauntlet to the Scot within the confines of a steel cage. McIntyre responded to Priest with an in-ring promo on the show. As per the Ayr-born wrestler, Priest’s claim of being stuck in the Drew McIntyre vortex is exactly why The Punisher has remained remotely relevant.
McIntyre then brought up how he beat Priest fair and square in a Sin City Street Fight at WrestleMania. Despite being humbled in front of over 60,000 fans in Vegas, the Puerto Rican star would still mess things up for The Scottish Psychopath thereafter. Priest’s obsession with the Scot concerns the latter, as he thought The Street King might want to wear McIntyre’s skin to his birthday party.

The Chosen One reprimanded his nemesis for snatching his moment away at Backlash, where he could’ve become a WWE Grand Slam Champion if it wasn’t for the New York-born grappler. The Scot also claimed that Priest tried to kill him by choke-slamming him off a 15-ft-high structure down to the concrete floor. McIntyre was lucky to have escaped what could’ve been a freak injury right there.
Is Drew McIntyre about to re-enter The Bloodline’s vortex?
As Drew McIntyre was walking off and reached the entrance ramp after his promo, Solo Sikoa entered alongside Jacob Fatu and Jeff Cobb, now known as JC Mateo. The Scot had an intense stare down with the Bloodline trio before exiting. Could it be a premonition of things to come? WWE could always revisit the Bloodline hunter arc of McIntyre that the company abruptly dropped earlier this year.

The Chosen One was on a mission to get his hands on Roman Reigns. For that to happen, the 39-year-old vowed to run through the entire Anoa’i family, or what, at the time, was the OG Bloodline. However, in the meantime, McIntyre suffered pinfall losses against the likes of Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso.
It completely derailed the former WWE champion’s motivations, and his words weren’t matching his actions. Moreover, his attempt to defeat Roman Reigns for the Undisputed title in front of his home crowd also didn’t go to plan because of The Bloodline. As such, there is a story there if the WWE wants to pursue.

If not after Sikoa’s men, McIntyre might transition into the world title picture. He hasn’t had a proper reign with the most coveted prize in sports entertainment in front of a live audience. At WrestleMania XL, he did beat Seth Rollins to capture the World Heavyweight title. However, it lasted merely 5 minutes and 46 seconds after Damian Priest cashed in his MITB contract on the Scot.
Drew McIntyre’s Hollywood project still under wraps
One mustn’t forget that Drew McIntyre is also lined up for a major Hollywood role in the near future. It’d be interesting to see what it exactly is in due time. The Scottish Warrior previously starred in Dave Bautista‘s The Killer’s Game.

Even though the movie bombed at the box office, it was McIntyre’s big-screen debut. The former IC Champion was cast in the film upon the recommendation of Bautista, but it was just a cameo for McIntyre. He played the role of Rory Mackenzie, an intimidating guy with a Scottish accent, just what the director J.J. Perry was looking for.
One of his WWE colleagues, Liv Morgan, recently wrapped up her filming of Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo in Japan. While the Scot’s venture is unknown at this point, the fans are hoping it to be something substantial for him. He could also miss some time on the road with WWE, which, at this point, isn’t possible to read into.
